army life is worthy recommendation. He says: Dear Dad: I write these few lines to let you know that we are in Georgia where the great tattle of Chickamauga was fought in 63. Among the most interesting things are the great Lookout Mountain, Lulu Falls, old cannon, cannon halls used in the war. and many

monuments of men who fell fighting for the south or the north. The most of these monuments, I am glad to say, are of men from Indiana or Illinois. I can say that it makes me more interested in these monuments to think I am reading of men from my own states. Tou ask me how I like the army life. Well, dad, it sure is fine and a lot different from the reports you hear from some people. We have the best of food and clothes, and everything one could get at home. We have work, that is true, hut we ha-e many things to enjoy. We have movies every night, boxing every Tuesday, baseball on Sunday. Beside this we have many other things, all of them in the same line of enjoyment we have at home, so you see why I like the army. Tou can tell all my friends at home they will not he sorry if they Join the army and I am sure all the rest of the boys who went from Hammond will say

, One of the buldinga of the Mississippi Centennial exposition. When war was declared work was progressing: rapidly on the building3 of the Mississippi Centennial exposition at Gulfport. They would have been completed in ample time for the opening of the exposition this year. When the United States got into the conflict, however, it was decided to postpone the exposition until February, 1919. Meanwhile, the buldings and grounds of the exposition will be utilized by the government as an naval training station. Naval recruits assigned to Gulfport will eat and sleep in palatial buildings like the one shown above.

Deep down in her heart every woman has a love for frilly, dainty things, but in this workaday world most of us get only a chance to indulge this taste in the more intimate clothes, such as undergarments and negligees. The model 6hown, No. S345, combines the advantages of being as graceful as it is practical. The deeppointed cape-is cut in one with tLz front and has a pretty ripple around the shoulders. The small back view shows the wide rwaist foundation over which the cape is bung. A three piece skirt is gathered to the upper part to give the Empire -feet, and a wide beading run with ribbon mny be used to cover the join. The points of the cape are very long and they may bt weighted with tassels. Wide frills of lace make an effective and easily applied trimming. The negligee pattern. No. 8343 ia cut m sizes small (36), medium (40) and large (44). Width at lower edge is 2 yards.
