Members of the various departments reported their plans for raising money and arrangements were also made for the annual picnic of the society to be held in July Instead of the next regular meeting. During the social hour Miss Ruth Howard entertained the guests with music and at the close of her program a two course luncheon was served.

70 VOTING MACHINES

(Special to Thh Times.) CROWX POINT, IX D., June 21. The county council today appropriated $83,000 for the purchase of seventy voting machines. The council will hold option on ten additional machines. The first of January the numbers of rrecincts in the county will be reduced from 1S3 to 70 or 80 and out of the saving In election expenses the county will pay for the machines. Because the state board refused to O. K. tha appropriation the council rescinded action on the budget of $5,000 for the use of the county agent In the employment of deputies, office aind etc., with the agreement that as soon as the county agent and the state authorities reach an understanding the money will be forthcoming. Five thousand dollarj was appropriated for the repair of fair ground buildings damaged by the recent tornado.
