Sam, Floored for Nine Count and Beaten for Six Rounds Refuses to Answer Call of the Gong for Seventh Session.
BOSTOX, MASS.. June 20. Fred Fulton won over Earn Langford last night after eis rounds. As the gong sounded for the beginning of the seventh, Langford quit cold and refused to leave his corner. Fulton had had the better or things all the way. There is not the slightest doubt that he was the superior rlngman last night. However, there was no excuse for Langford quitting as he did and the crowd was rather sore about It aa it filed out of the hall. Fulton will be credited with a knockout, of course, and it will be the first time a "K. O. by" has ever been put opposite Sam Langford's name in the record books. Fulton towered head and shoulders over Langford, who was fat and manifestly in no condition whatever for a real fight. The first round was about even, but the second showed the real trend of events and made it perfectly .clear that Langford could not stand up very long against his younger and uperbly conditioned opponent. Iiangf ord Sown In Second. In the second spasm "Fulton put Langford down for a count of nine, and if he had followed up his advantage the fight would have been oevr then "and there. Fulton did not seem to be able to slam his opponent in a .vulnerable spot in this crisis. Although he had Sam In a bad way on several occasions, he lacked the punch to end the battle

The hottest battle Sunday was between the K. of C. and the S. S. A. C. the latter winning out in the tenth inning, this being the first extra inning battle in the league. The K. of C. later put in a protest which is to be settled next Sunday. The Foresters did the expected and handed the Boosters their weekly exercise, although it was not as sarenuous as the Boosters have been accustomed to. The Owls and Macabees had a hot battle for a few innings but the Macabees' over-confidence could not pull them through the nine Innings and the Night Hawks am the bases at will the last part of the game and brough home the bacon easy. Springate's long drive and Green's two base pinch hit with the bases loaded also proved too much of a handicap for the insurance men.
LEONARD IS REFEREE PHILADELPHIA. PA.. June 20. Eddie O'Keefe won from Al Wagner last night in a one-sided bout. Wagner pulled a lot of circut stunts, once throwing himself out of the ring when one of his wild swings missed. Benny Leonard refereed.

Lake County Fans Interested in Next Attraction Parduhn Secures Services of Flaherty of Washington Americans to Hurl Against Chicago Sharks.
The Red Cross must have Or.r Hundred Millions. Are you Hoping?
With the strongest attraction It was possible to secure, Paul Parduhn, manager of the Hammond baseball team, has arranged to give the fans a taste of Saturday afternoon ball this week. The Chicago Giants, colored, are o be seen in action against the thousand per cent leaders of the Chicago City League. The Giants are one of the fastest clubs In Chicago and rivals of the American Giants for supremacy of the colored teams of the west. As Pete Henning will pitch Sunday against the Murley's at the Hammond ball park. Manager Fowler will place E. J. Flaherty of the Washington Americans in the box against the Giants Saturday. Flaherty is being sold to the Cubs and Is a big leaguer of the first calibre. The game Saturday is expected to draw from East Chicago, Indiana Harbor, Whiting, West Hammond and Gary for the dinges are a big baseball at
traction and Hammond has earned a reputation this year which 'the surrounding cities realize is an enviable one. The fact that Hammond has hired a big league pitcher for the day so its own big leaguer Henning will not be forced to hurl two games in two days, indicates it is expecting a stiff battle. Hammond has a far better ball club than it had a few weeks ago. The team it had in the field at the first of th season against the Roseland Eclipse would have been beaten by the Eclipse last Sunday. Hammond relies less on lots of hits to win a game with a small score and more on the greatest possible number of hits from a few runs. In other words the boys are stepping lively on the bases. The fielding is faster and more accurate. The team is most certainly deserving of great patronage. Paul Parduhn, the owner, has rjroven himself to be a true baseball impresiaro.
