LET GEORGE r

IT BUT

WHICH ONE?

Will It Be George Chip or George Brown Who Does Things to the Other in the "Wisconsin City Wind-Up

Tonight.

Two battle-scarred veterans of the middleweight boxing brigade, each still retaining much of his youthful vim. vigor and vitality, will engage in a glove collision in John Wagner's familiar Racine ring this evening. George Knockout Brown, Chicago's sturdy and willing Greek scrapper, and Geore Chip, the Newcastle miner with the deadly right-hand punch, are the gents to whom we have reference. These parties allege they are better now than when fresher in the fighting game, because they have become wise and seasoned in the hard school of experience. Chip was recognized as champion at one" time after knocking out Frank Klaus and still Hopes to reach that pinnacle over the prostrate form of some worthy rival. If he can stop Brown tonight, which he aims to do, he will set sail for Mike Gibbons

and a titular battle. Chip has heard that Jimmy Clabby, who recently won the Australian middleweight championship from Tommy Uren, is on the Pacific homeward bound and. figures that the survivor in tonight's fracas also will be in line for a match with the Hammond master. Naturally Brown is figuring along the same line as Chip, but with the ida that the outcome of this fuss will go his way instead of the miner's.

LEONARD LOOKS GOOD AS 'CHAMP'

Br K. C. HAMILTON NEW YORK. June 8. Heavy fisted, fast-thinking, clean-living Benny Leonard is a worthy successor to the marvelous boxers who have worn the crown of the lightweight division. Leonard is not a Joe Gans in everything, hut Gans never was a more finished puncher, there never was more power in his black fists than in the flashing flails that hang from Leonard's shoulders. He is not an Ad "VVolgast nor a Terry McOovern in ferocity of attack. He is not a Nelson in savage ability to keep on taklnar punishment. But Leonard combines the best virtues of all these. His heart bears no marks of vicious blows. He is young and clean. He should be able to last a long time as leader. Leonard gives every credit to his mother for his victory over Freddie Welsh. "She has made me live right. It is my mother who keeps me in condition," he declared afver the bout with Welsh. Leonard is idolized among New York's Hebrew residents. Himself a Hebrew, he has gathered a following wonderful in its proportions, and his personality carries him into the hearts o:? the thousands of . other fight-lovers in New York.

WELLING Ai DUNDEE BATTLE TD 11 DRAW IN NEW YORK ARENA

NEW YORK. June 8. Johnny Dundee and Joe Welling fought a great ten round draw at the St. Nicholas rink last night. It was a bitter struggle every bit of the way. Welling landed the cleaner punches and migtit have earned the verdict had he been a little more aggressive. Dundee's willingness evened up the score. Joe was content to wait for a chance to land his right, and he did so with a vim. too, at times. .As early as the second round he had Dundee on the verge of a knockout " from the effects of a hard right hander. The blow came too late in the round to do real damage, for Dundee clinched until his head cleared. Dundee's speed played havoc with Joe's aim. Welling missed scores of good healthy rights for the jaw because of Dundee's elusive methods. Dundee's rally in the last round was not enough to overshadow Joe's clean hitting.
