The Grand Army of the Republic, which was organized in 1S66 and which at one time consisted of more than 400.000 soldiers who fought for Freedom, again invites the Sons and Daughters of Americ and all those who have adopted thi3 country as their home, to participate in the services to he held in Hammond on Wednesday, May 30th. 1917.
The parade will form at the Court House at 9 o'clock A- M., and march to Oak Hill Cemetery, returning to Harrison Park where Senator L L. H. Austin of Chicago, will deliver the Memorial address at 10:30 A. M Today we are forming another Grand Army consisting of the sons and grandsons cf our former heroes and those who have adopted this coun
try and its principles as their home and ideals. We are fighting for the principles upon which our government was founded. As we w ill bring and deposit on the graves of those gone before, the flowers, the emblems of human confidence and future resurrection, let us on this day also in grateful appreciation pay a gracious tribute of respect and honor to the boys who have gone, now going, and will be called to battle for the same cause for wh'ich the patriots and heroes of our history gave their lives; We want all organizations of ou-
city, churches, schools, military organizations, patriotic societies, fraternal organizations, Boy Scouts, and members of the Hammond Chapter, American Red Cross, to participate in
the celebration and join in the parade. 1
Let us be faithful in our 'memory of those who are dead, and to the spirit of the times for those who are cow at the front, battling for American principles of right and- justice. Let us on this day show that we will follow our President as loyally as our forefathers followed Washington and Lincoln, until the Freedom of the seas has ben established for all time, tyranny and despotism crushed for
ever, and the liberties of all peopieal made secure.
