times bureau, at state Capital. 1XDIAXAPOI.IS. IN P., May 2.V An announcement that came from -Washington, last night, is of interest all over Indiana. Jt said that no exemptions from the draft under the new law will be made or considered until after the draft itself has been made. In 'other words, al! men within the age limits prescribed by the law must register, regardless of whether they are married and have dependents to care for. or whether they are crippled or unfit for service for any reason. They must all register. Then the names will be put in a box and the required number will be drawn out. After that has been done any man whose name has been drawn has the right to claim exemption from service in the army, but be is required to prove that he is entitled to the exemption. He cannot claim exemption until after the names have been drawn and It Is known whether be is in the list of those drawn for service. It will be up to the local boards to decide whether he shall be exempted. Another dispatch from "Washington that if of interest to many persons in Indiana is that the men now in the officers' reserve training camp at Fort Benjamin Harrison will receive $100 a month for the three months that they are in the camp. The money has not yet been appropriated, but it is in the army deficiency bill which has been passed by both branches cf Congress and is now In the hands of a conference committee. The disratch says there 1s not tho least danger that this provision will be eliminated. The bill will be finally agreed on in a few days and then when It is signed by the President the money will be available to pay thest! men. The ghost will -walk for them, but Just how soon is the Question.
