Sheridan, and also "tipped" Leslie that the drill of that camp was strenuous. Leslie informed his brother that if the statements of the officers' reserve corps at Ft. Harrison were true, the work at Ft. Sheridan wns tame, compared with that of this army post.

Steel common sold at 130. up 2'i points on a new high record shortly after noon today. The new record is made after a reaction that followed an unusually lively opening. Wagers were made in some quarters that stock would sell to 150 before it reached its climax. During the forenoon nearly half a million shares were traded. At a meeting Monday evening the Hammond Knights of Tythias will consider plans to move Into their new lodge home, the building built by the Lincoln-Jefferson Law school and now rented by the public schools. As the public schools will vacate the building ac the close of the present school term the lodge plans to move In as soon as It can be redecorated and fitted up. Between twelve and fifteen candidates for the first degree are to be initiated the first Monday in June. At a meeting this week W. H. Milr.er was made chancellor commander in the place of William Friedhof, resigned. Six candidates were given the third degree.
