i (By DR. N. C. COOK.) A poison as dangerous as atrychzua Is manufactured within our own body, called uric acid. When It accumulates In the body and the kidneys fall to carry It off. we suffer from dull headache, sleeplessness, muscular pains, lumbago, or it may cause rheumatism or B"out. The uric acid can be seen in the cloudy ediment in the water what Is called the "brick-dust." noted on the sides of the vessel containing it after a few hours' standing. The -water it scant, high-colored, strongly acid, and this should be & danger sign, and if not taken in time, "by cutting out the meal, tea and alcohol, may end in rheumatitmi or gout. Drink plenty of water between mea! a pint of hot water half an hour before meals and take Anurie (double strength). This was first discovered by Dr. Pierce, of the Surgical Institute in Buffalo, X. T.. and is harmless to th system, but sure and effective in carrying off the uric acid. It stimulates the kidneys and helps them to carry off th uric acid poison. Anurie can le obtained et a'Tict any dnjp k0T3. aad hrlps to counteract the aclulty of the sysder.. A blockade In the intestines piles a heavy burden upon the liver. If the intestines are choked or clogged up. tho circulation of the blood becomes pelsoned and the system becomes loadsd .lth toxic Taste. and we suffer from headache, yellow-coated tongue, bad taste in mouth, nausea, or gas, acid dyspepsia, languor, debility, yellow skin or eyes. At such times one should take a pleasant laxative. Such a one la made of the May-apple, leaves of aloe and root of jalap, first extracted and put Into re&dy-to-use form by Dr. Pierce, r early fifty years ago, and sold by all druggists as Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pallets. Adv. Substitute for Lacquer. The scarcity of the natural lacquer of the Japanese, the sap of the tree Rhus verniclfera, has brought to notice thitsi, a like product obtained by the Burmese from the .black varnish tree. The substances prove to be essentially Identical and thitsi Is already used as a varnish or lacquer on wood, cloth and paper, and as a cement Id Burmese glass mosaics. A larger lacquer work field for Burma is suggested. Careless Use of Soap Spoils the Hair Soap should be used very carefully. If you want to keep your hair looking Its best. Most soaps and prepared shampoos contain too much alkalL This dries the scalp, makes the hair brittle, and ruins it. The best thing for steady use is just ordinary mulslfied cocoanut oil (which is pure and gTeaseless). and Is better than the most expensive soap or anything else you can useOne or two teaspoonfuls will cleanse the hair and scalp thoroughly. Simply moisten the hair with water and rub it in. It makes an abundance of rich, creamy lather, which rinses out easily, removing every particle of dust, dirt, dandruff and excessive oil. The hair dries quickly and evenly, and it leaves the scalp soft, and the hair fine and ilky. bright, lustrous, fluffy and easy to manage. Tou can get mulslfied cocoanut oil at any pharmacy, it's very cheap, and a few ounces will supply every member of the family for months. Adv. tvsEKUStvlass UrflJL-ii
