An Experienced Tire Factory Man, S. Ross Vaa Binder, Will Be In Fulton April 23 to Make Factory Equipment Plans.

The board of directors of the Consumers Service Tire & Equipment company held its regular meeting last night, at -which there was a full and enthusiastic attendance. The president, Mr. Ackles, gave a complete report on his trip to the greatest tire center of the world, Akron, Ohio, lie explained in detail the interesting features of the four greatest tiro plants, namely, the Goodrich, the Goodyear, the Firestone and the Kelly-Springfield, through which plants he was shown by gentlemen versed in the automobile tire business, who were applicants for the position of factory manager of our local plant. There are twenty-one tire factories in the city of Akron, all of which are doing p. successful and lucrative business. Mr. Ackles' report was not only interesting and educational, but engendered great enthusiasm as he gave, step by step, the growth and prosperity of the various companies in that wonderful rubber center. One item of special interest to local people is the fact that the KellySpringfield Tire company, with an output of but 1,500 tires per day, has been offered and has accepted a bonu of $750iOO to move itB plant from Akron to Cumberland, Md. This illustrates the feeling of cities who have some knowledge of the value to a community of a tire plant, as to the desirability of locating such a plant in their midst. f The purpose of Mr. Ackles' visit to Akron was not only to make a closer study of other tire plants than those he has already visited from time to time, but to secure a competent man to act in the capacity of factory manager for the Consumers Service Tire & Equipment company. There were fourteen applicants In the city of Akron for this position, among whom were men of wide experience and technically well trained in the manufacture of automobile tires. After meeting and taking up the matter with practically all of the applicants, he concluded to hire the very best man who had applied for the position, who happened to be S. Ross Vas Binder Mr. Vas Binder a man about thirty-eight years of age. who has put th major portion of his time since leavins: college in the auto tire industry. For the past nine years he has been head of the various departments with the largest company in Akron, namely, the B. F. Goodrich company. Mr. Vas Binder is most Competent in every branch of the industry and wil assist the local company in building up an institution on a product of unquestioned quality: an institution whioh should grow to be one of the greatest manufacturing industries in the Mississippi valley. Mr. Vas Binder resigned his position Monday of this week and will be here to begin operations on Monday, April 23. Upon his arrival, Mr. Vas Binder will immediately begin formulating his plans, making his drafts and blue prints, and as soon as he has the matter well in hand will begin the selection and purchase of this equipment. Mr. Ackles rendered a financial statement to the board last night which surprised and pleased every one. The report showed the splendid progress made in the sale of stock and showed the company to be on a sound financial basis, and completely satisfied the board of directors that there was not a shadow of doubt as to the success and future of the local company. In fact, the progress of the Consumers Service Tire & Equipment company has been much better than that usually experienced by like corporations for the same length of time. Ottc- Rockrohr, second vice president of the company, was present at the meeting, and expressed his satisfaction with the reports of progress made.

Among other actions taken by the board was the election of A. W. "Bastian as vice president of the company. To sav that it was an enthusiastic

body of men who left the board meet- S ing last night is indeed puttine it 3 mildly. If the people but realized It. M they have in their midst a concern m which promises to eclipse anything 3 iu tho way of a manufacturing hi- 3 dustry which the city of Fulton Ins ever been able to interest and which kl

has come to the city unsolicited.
