gratulations on the happy event. Crown Point people have responded nobly to the appeal of the" governor of the state and the local authorities to plant every available foot of ground in foodstuff crops and it is expected that hardly a vacant lot. but what will be under cultivation before seed time Is over. The city officials and Chamber of Commerce officials are ready at all times to co-operate with the public and
will give whatever aid is necessary to' further the scheme. Greatly increased crops are imperative and each individual benrs a large share of responsibility in responding to the appeal. The benefit, entertainment given by the Senior class of the Crown Point high school at the 1-yric theatre last evening was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by those present. Hesides the photoplay "The Warrens of Virginia." the members of the class were introduced in a pleasing program and the affair can be recorded as a b'g success. A perceptible dropping off in the marriage license operations is noticed since the last of the week and it is possible that the "war groom" rush is over. Proposed legislation to compel those who have married since the declaration of war to serve may have induced olhers likewise inclined to consider the step, if it is riot any deterrent to military service. To Increase The Na-tion'B rood Supply. This a patriotic national duty, patriotism and profit both urge you to increase the supply, every pound of food produced will help defeat the enemy. We want more vacant lots to be used for this purpose, if you are unable to work you own, will you contribute the use of same for this good cause at this great time of need. The mayor and city officials are cooperating and assisting the Chamber of
Commerce, and Prof. Painter and school children in this good work. 10.000,000 more hens are also needed for the home and overseas demand for eggs .and meats, to every farmer and city poultry keeper make it your duty to raise a few more broods of chicks this season, and help fill this demand.
