ARGUMENT Argument is one man's polite way of telling another man he doesn't know what he's talking about. It's an art with some folks and a habit with ethers. Argument, and diplomacy are closely related. One man calls another man a liar. That's argument. The other man says doubtless the first man is correct, but isn't it just possible and so on and so on. Thai's diplomacy. Almost any proposition is open to argument, but there are a few places where all argument fails; certain things about which there is no argument. This includes wives, dyspepsia, buzz-siws, mule heels, street car conductors, policemen, polecats and cyanide of potassium. And did you ever try to argue with a balky furnace.
