Gary is nearer to having a court today than it ever was since it began its campaign years ago. Action by the lower house of the legislature yesterday, when the bill transferring room 3 from Hammond and Crown Foint to Gary, puts it up to the governor for his signature. He has three days in which to veto the bill. Whether he will, howfver, remains to be seen. At any rate, ih5 governor before taking action on the bill has agreed to give all sides a hearing Thursday, and it is expected that another demonstration will be made to impress the chief executive

Few people realize to w hat ex lent their health depends upon the. condition of the khineys. Tlie physician in nearly all cases of serious illness, make.s a chemical analysis of the patient's urine. H- knows ihat unless tho kidneys are doing their worji properly, the other organs cannot readily be brought back to health and strength. When the kidneys are neglected or abused in any way. serious results are sure to follow. According to health statistics, Brisrht's Kisease, which is really an advanced form of kidney trouble, caused jiearly ten thousand deaths in one year, in the State of New York alone. Therefore,, it. is particularly necessary t. pay more attention to the health of these important organs. An ideal herbal compound that has had renin ikable sue. ess as a kidney remedy is Ir. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, the great kidney, liver and blad.ier remedy. The mild and healing influence of this preparation, in most cases, is soon realized, according to sworn statements and verified testimony of those who have used the remedy. When jour kidneys require attention, get Swamp-Hoot at once from nny pharmacy. Jt is sold by every rlrueirist in bottles of two sizes 5oc. and $1.00. One of the momentous subjects that has ever come before the citizens of thif; region will be taken up next Thursday evening at a joint meeting of the chambers of Commerce of Hammond, East Chicago and Whiting:, held at the Hammond Country club. ,At that time there will be a tentative discussion of the question of the amalgamation of these cities into one big, populous, prosperous, economic entity. Shall northern Lake county Ve made in one city, in purpose, in administration and in name? Shall these cities be made one municipality that will be able to take its stand among the great cities of the middle west? It is pretty generally agreed that if it is to be done at all. now is the most auspicious time. Never has there been such a unanimity oh thought and pur
pose between these cities. Never have!
liiey had more problems m common. I
Never has the bond of sympathy been stronger between officials and representative men. It is hoped that there will be a large attendance at this meeting, which is called at the Hammond Country club.
