GOOD PiTO-OmilS AT DELUXE THEATER

The conjunction of two favorite stars gives brilliancy to the new Tri-aangle-Fine Arts feature, "The Microscope Mystery," which will be shown at DeLuxe theatre Saturday, with Wilfred Lucas and Constance Talmadge in the leading roles. The kind of a screen play that a Poe or a Conan Doyle would enjoy having written is unfolded in this unusual drama. Lucas, whoso work in "Rummy" and "llcll-to-Pay Austin" is remembered with Joy, takes the party of a whimsical country doctor who solves an absorbing murder mystery with the aid of a microscope and thus clears an innocent girl to whom the circumstances seem to point unmistakeably. Miss Tilmad ge ' lends her well-known sincerity and charm to the girl's part. Richard Bennett in a very . strong picture, "The Law Says," is at DeLuxe today and patrons are enthusiastic over the photo-drama. "The Honorable Algy," with Charles Ray, shows Sunday at DeLuxe on the Paramount program.

The Auction Sale which formed a part of the recent High School "Fair" was a great success financially, netting $200. The faculty and students of the commercial department feel that this is due to the generosity and courtesy of the merchants of Hammond who donated the articles sold, to Thb Lake Cot' ntt Times and the Lake County News for free advertising, and to Mr. Cornelius P. Schoon who donated his services. Committee: MARIE A. NWXHAM. O. X. TAYLOR. CORA B. BEACH. 12-22 CS'LADTS A. BRANDT.

Conference Called by W. H. Hays at Indianapolis for the Purpose of Outlining General Republican Program.

Democrats and twenty-five Republ!cans. Tha prevailing opinion as It was expressed by the senators who came for the meeting was that the Republicans would not agree to the proposal made by the Democratic senators for a division of the appointments and committee chairmanships between the two parties. The Republicans propose to take all of them, on the ground that the Republicans are In the majority, with the vote of Lieutenant Governor Bush, who will take office

four days-after the opening o the session, and that they do not have to deal with the Democrats on Jobs and appointments. It was said, too, that the legislators would discuss candidates for the various appointments in the House and Senate. E. E. York, of Peru, and W, W. Huffman, of Anderson, are candidates for secretary of the senate and the chances favor the eletclon of York. For assistant secretary, Harry ;. Styner, of Tippecanote county, and J. W. Agnew, of Lagro, have been mentioned. The chances appear to favor Ptyner. The only candidate for thief

doorkeeper of the senate is Milton Garrlgns. of Kokomo. an old soldier.

The Republican floor leader in the House probably wllj be Representative Charles McGonagle. of Muncle, sithought Tenth district members of the Itouse are backing Edwin C. Davis, representative from Lake county, for the position. q. II. Htrattom. of Sullivan, and J. Monroe Fitch, of Muncia, are the candidates talked of for chief "clerk of the house, and the only candidate mentioned for sasistsnt clerk is John

W. Rodgers, of Newcastle. Robert Acre, of Indianapolis, is out for the Job of chief doorkeeper of the House. He was a member of the House at th last session.
