If Hyde Park high tschool authorities fuss less over the new boys' boxing club started there and more over cigarettes and poolrooms, they will serve the-people a great deal better. The Chicago Herald says: "Superintendent Shoep appears to be unduly wrought up over the boxing and wrestling club organized by about fifty students of the Hyde Park high school. It may not fit into the school system, as he says. It doesn't have to. It is not held during school hoars and there Is no reason why it should Interfere with school work, literary or athletic. "It would be hard to imagine an athletic club run under better auspices. A member of the school teaching force is required to be present at meetings. Outsiders are not allowed to attend. Exhibitions are given from time to time before the Parent-Teacher association, and the public heard no rumor of dissatisfaction from that source. What is more, the organization has the approval of the principal of the school, who should have been able to discern in a year any 'deleterious results. "Of course any one who regards boxing and wrestling as brutal per se writ naturally oppose this schoolboy organization. But those who think they are good, cean sport and fine exercise when 'properly supervised and the average man will certainly take that view will feel that they should be encouraged rather than discouraged. Superintendent Snoop's Impression that such athletic activities are 'too centralized' the few getting the exercise and toe many being mere onlookers applies equally to baseball, football and a lot of other sports that appeal to youth."

The Boiler Makers had their hands full from beginning to end. the South Bend five, being fast and aggressive. Purdue's famillarity with the floor gave the Boiler Makers the only advantage.
