Real Education. Education, if it be worth the name, is practical. Many a college graduate has found himself on the verge of starving to death, because he had not early learned the force of this truth. On the other hand, many whose advantages in life Avere apparently the most meager have steadily climbed upward, and ultimately reached the goal of their desires, by the means of t,he useful, common-sense knowledge circumstances had enabled him to obtain.

Peculiar Russian Dish. One of the national dishes of Russia Is known as the Pashka. It is a sort of cake that stands one and a half feet high, and Is always put on a tall base. It is usually surmounted by a sugar cross, and is placed in the center of the table when the Russians hold their great feast of Easter when the fast is broken. It takes about 60 eggs to make the Pashka, but none but natives can succeed in producing the rare taste.

Why Not? Erdix, a small boy of four, came into his aunt's house one day and said, "Auntie, did God use a pattern to make me by?" She replied, "I suppose so." "Then," said he, "he must have some pieces left over and why can't he put them together and hiake me a baby sister?"

Food Required by the Aged. A great English physician. Dr. George Cheyne, states that after fifty years of age the amount of food should be decreased gradually. At eighty, if a man becomes so old. he should eat about as much us a child of five. A man should take especial care of himself between the ages of thirty-two and thirty-five, by studying his constitution .and regulating food, exercise rui j!apure.

Cutting Wide Slots With Hacksaw. Mechanics frequently find it necessary to cut slots in metal with a hackee w. When wide slots are required, so that a single cut from a blade will not make them, two or more blades may be placed together and a wider cut trade. If the pins, over which the blades are hooked, are straightened slightly they will hold several blades with a uniform tension. Popular Mechanics Magazine.
