Thomas Woodrow Wilson was horn at Staunton, Va., in 1S50. lie was graduated at Trincetoa in 1ST 9. then studied law at the University of Virginia and for two years, in 1SS2-3, practiced In Atlanta, (ia. In 1883 to 1SS5 he studied jurisprudence, history and political science at the newly opened Johns Hopkins university, from which, in 1SS5, he received the degree of doctor of philosophy. He was ail associate professor of history at Bryn Mawr in 1S8T-G and associate professor of history and political science there in 1880-88, fuled a similar chair at Wesleyan university in 18,89 -90 and In 1S90 hecame professor of jurisprudence and politics at Princeton. Upon the resignation of President Patton in June, 1902, Mr. Wilson was elected

president of Princeton university. He was made governor of New Jersey in i

1911 and elected president of the Unit ed States Nov. D, 1912.
