The Baptist Sunday school will havo Its cantata Wednesday evening. A crowd of Baptist church young people will go carol-singing Christmas eve. In accordance with a custom they have observed for several years. Mrs. Mary Johnson, who makes her home with her son, Clark Johnson. S33 Block avenue, returned this morning from Norwalk, Ohio, where she went to attend the unveiling of her usband's monument. Mr. Johnson died July 4, and his remains were interred in the Norwalk cemetery. He was a well known contractor throughout northern Ohio, and the Workmen of the World had charge of the unveiling ceremonies. The unveiling took place Sunday. The R. A- E. club entertained last night with & hard times party In the Baptist Church basement. About fifty attended. W. R. WOOD WOULD GO TO CONGRESS

Lafayette Man Thinks He Can Beat Peterson. Lafayette, Ind., Dec. 23. Will R. Wood, state senator, who strongly desires to represent the tenth district In congress, one of the delegates to the last republican national convention, in now spending considerable time building his political fences in an effort to obtain the republican nomination in the district. Senator Wood thinks he can defeat John B. Teterson, the democratic incumbent, provided Peterson gets a renomlnation. Senator Wood does not think the bull moosers will have a candidate in the field. He day the party is rapidly disintegrating in the district and that by next spring there will be no district organization of progressives.

HUNTING SEASON CLOSES JAN. 10 The hunting season in Indiana closes January 10 when rabbits are no longer legal prey. Ths quail season ended December 20, thi duck season December 15. Until July 1, when squirrels come in hunting will be Illegal. Lake county hunters have been compelled to dispense with ferrets cf late owing to the passage of a new law.

ItA'SACK9 HOMES OF RICH. A bold burglar early yesterday entered the homes of three of Lafayette's wealthiest families on East South street and took his time In ransacking the places. At the residence of Mrs. Henry Taylor ami Arthur Curtis he carried away some jewelry and packages that were Intended to be sent out as Christmas presents. Not ilnding any valuables at the home of Mrs. John P. Oogen, he went to the ice box in the basement, took foodstuff, sat down and had a good meal. There have been many similar robberies In Lafayette in the past two weeks and the police are unable to find any clew.
