Garry Herrmann will own a controlling Interest ! the Cincinnati club before the season of 1914 opens. This interesting ' tip came yesterday from one of the biggest men in organized baseball, one of Herrmann's closest friends and supporters. Gilbert E. Porter was re-elected president of the Chicago Golf club at the annual meeting held Saturday night at the Midday club. The regular ticket was the same as last year, with the exception of two changes in5the directors, C. L. Allen and R. H. Ripley replacing Edward F. Cary and the late

John R. Qott. ' Paris, Dec. 22. Sam Langford. the negro b avyweight pugilist of Boston, was awarded the decision on points over Joe Jeannette of Hoboken, N. J at the end of a twenty-round contest held Saturday night at Luna park. The bout was considered In France to be for the heavyweight championship of the world. Jack Johnson "put onover" on the fistic fans of Paris last Friday njght when he boxed a ten-round draw with "Battling Jim" Johnson, according to Information JmpartI by a local friend

of the colored champion. It was stated that Jack Johnnor's opponent wis none other than his ' brrther-ln-law, Gni Rhodes, a big, strong negro with pugilistic ambitions.

Showing no marks of his ten-round bout with Charley White and asserting he is still a contender for the honor which he lost to Willie Ritchie, Ad Wolgast, former lightweight champion, passed through Chicago yeeterdajT on his way to his home In Cadillac, Mich. Wolgast still Insists he held White to a draw and hells anxious to meet the local battler in a return match. The "Bearcat" said Milwaukee promoters have approached him on the subject and he has agreed to their terms. As White already, has signified a willingness to meet the former title holder again, a return bout is sure to be staged some time text month.

Although Wolgast lost he decision

to White over the ten-round route, at

which distance he never was at his best, his services are sought by clubs

in all sections of the country. Coast

promoters want him to meet Joe RIv

ers and Leach Cross. . The German said

he would be only too- glad to meet either over the long route to show the

publto he is entitled to a return match

CRAVATH SAYS HE'LL JUMP TO FEDERALS Los Angeles; Dec. 22. Just how determined the people back of the Federal league are to break through the ranks of "organized" baseball may be Judged from the fact that they are trying to secure the services of "Cactus" Cravath, star player of the Phillies, and the leading slugger for 1913 of the National league. In a letter written at his winter home at Laguna Beach, Cravath tells of the situation In the following paragraph:

"The Federal league has made me a swell offer for next season, and unless the Philadelphia management 'comes through' strong I am going over to the Feds."
