HAMMOND FANSSEE FIGHT A number of Hammond fight fans were at the ringside of the White"Wolgast fight at Milwaukee last night and are expected to arrive In Hammond some time today. Among those who saw the scrap were James Clabby Sr. and Tom Croak, and according to press accounts of the go, the Hammonditea were rewarded for their trip The ten-round preliminary between Young Joe Bishop of Robrtsdale and Peanuts Schieberl, went the five-round limit. Schieberl surprising the fight fans by forcing Bishop to give up This was a big disappointment to Bishop' many admirers, as they ex pected to see him give the Milwaukee lad a sever lacing. Jack Croak of Hammond did himslf Justice when he easily defeated Freddie Andrews In a slashing ten-round bout. This bout is said to have been one of the best of the evening. TELEGRAM FROM JIMMY CLABBY Ever since his flRht with Sailor Frank Logan at San Francisco on Thanksgiving day Jimmy Clabby has been lost, so to !ay, and he might have been on the other side of the globe for all his many Hammond friends knew. At last his whereabouts has been made known by a telegram from Los Angeles yesterday Afternoon. It read to thVfollowlng effect: "Los Angles, Dec. 19. McCarey trying to land fight with McAllister or Gibbons for January date. If he can't get them I will b horn next week. Regards to all. - JIMMY." The telegram was news to his many friends and also to "Dad" Clabby, who had begun to graw anxious about th middleweight champion. It is nothing new for Jimmy to keep his friends on the anxious seat thouyh, for he ha been away for months at a time and not one word 'to let hi many friends know where he was at or what he was doing. It is Just one of his peculiarities, and h'3 seemingly delights Sn keeping his' friends In suspense. But nevertheless "Jeerns" will be welcomed back home with open arms. Tra ss HUFFIER PEST STOP Women who dare conventions and enjoy wholesome sport will be welcome as members of the new Hammond Motorcycle club. One such, Mrs. D.
