CHRISTMAS AT THE FRAXKL1N SCHOOL. The Franklin school ws in holiday attire yesterday, with their Christmas tree and decorated rooms. Teachers and pupils have been busy for a week getting: ready for a program and a sale of articles made by the pupils. The seventh and eighth grade girls cooked and served luncheon to the teachers. Miss Prohl, the domestic science teacher, Is doing fine work In her classes as is shown by the ability of girls to go ahead both at school and in the homes. At 1:30 the program was given in the church to an apreciative audience. After the program all returned to the school building where candy, baskets, preserves, calendars and dressed dolls were for sale. Over $20 was taken in and more could have been sold. A BUSINESS MEETING. Twenty-eight members were in attendance at the annual business meeting" of the Xor'hside Ladies' Club which was held last evening in" the parlors of the First Congregational church in Gostlin street. The annual election of officers took place following which the reports of the A. & section and the X. Y. Z. division of the club for the past five month's work were read. Ths .reports showed that a sum o $105.45 had been" realized by th members of the X. T. Z. division and $15f).40 by the members of ehe A. B; section. This money will apply on the pledge made by the club for the new church building fund. It was decided to hold the next social 'meeting of the club the second Friday afternoon In January instead of the first which in the regular meeting day at the home of Mrs. Clyde Smith. 128

regular monthly meeting last evening at the home of Miss Helen Fraley In Russell street. After the business

meeting Miss Mary Fraley gave a very interesting review of the lesson on

was greatly enjoyed. Several readings were given by Miss Fraley and her mother. Mrs. Frank O. Fraley gave a reading entitled "Kentucky Philosophy." During the social hour dainty refreshments were served.

REMODEL MASONIC TEMPLE Work was started yesterday morning remodeling the old Masonic temple building on West State street, the alterations to 'cost in a round sum of 310,000. The contract was let to George P. Pearson and the specifications call for the work to be completed in sixty days. The first floor, which was formerly occupied by a picture show, will be remodeled into a spacious store room. The second floor will consist of up-to-date living rooms, while
