OLGAST TO CLAIM TITLE AT 1 33 IF HE LACES WHITE

Ad Wolgast sent out a business-Hit announcement from his Milwaukee training camp yesterday. It read like this: "I will claim the lightweight championship of the world at 1S3 pounds If I whip Charlie White Friday night. This I expect to do. The title reverts back to me anyway, Ritchie robbing me of It on a foul when we met at 1S3 ringside." The 133-pounders have started something, all right, with their organization, which bars all who cannot make that weight at the ringside. Since the orgsnlaztlon was formed critics all over the country have come out In favor of the .movement. They realize that there are too many grand little rlngmen at 133 pounds to be shoved out In the cold with no chance to capture a title Just because Willie Ritchie has utgrown the division. So the winner of the Wolgast-White mlxup will receive plenty of recognition as the king of the 133-pounders. Also he will get plenty of challenges.

Wolgast fuels so good after his first earnest course of preparation In a couple of years that he Is advising old friends In Milwaukee, folks who did him favors in Ad's free lunch days; to bet all they can n him to trim the Chicago boy decisively. We heard this direct from parties who are on the Inside and know what Is going In In the Wolgast camp. They even go so far as to say that Wolgast is in better shape than he ever was. That Is stretching it some, but we are convinced that the

Cadillac Dutchman Is ready for this quarrel... Which means that C. White has an awful fight on his hands. Charlie White has been doing road work for the Wolgast fight for the first time in his career. That's a fact. Charlie always has been a steady, reliable conditioner in the gymnasium. But road work is entirely new to him. It shows how seriously he is taking this combat. He, too, will, be in the finest of fettle. White is very confident that he will be the next boss of the 133-pounders.

one recompense. If he can stay off his game until spring, by the tims his mashie and niblick have finished their work over the course, there will be no need for spring plowing or for any hired help. , . " JACK McAuliffe, undefeated and retjred lightweight champion, in due to arrive in England today or tomorrow, and. Intends making a six weeks" tour of Europe. As McAuliffe holds a unique position in the boxing world, he Is assured of enthusiastic receptions in the cities he expects to visit. He will begin his tour in ondon December 32, and hi will then visit France and Germany. At each place where he exhibits some will known local boxer will go on with him In a sparring bout.

INDIANA HARBOR VS.JIEGEWISCH (Special to Th Times.) Hegewlsch, 111., Dec 18. The Hegewlsch A. A. football team will play the Indiana Harbor Gophers, crack 145-pound team of Lake county, at the Hegewisch park, Sunday, December 21. Game called at 2 p. m. This should be the best game played here this seaBon, as Hegewlsch has improved wonderfully since the Thanksgiving game

and Indiana Harbor is considered one

of the best teams ever turned out in Northern Indiana for seasons. The

Hegewlsch team will line up the same

as last Sunday: Galllgan and C. Fuehrmeyer, ends; A. Favlak and Moran, tackles; Sweeney and McKernan, guards; E. Pavlak, center; Hoffman, quarter; Appel and Hoffman, halves.

and J. Fuehrmeyer, full back. Referee Hunter. This will be the last game of the year and considering the record the boys have made this season it is

to be hoped a record breaking crowd

will be on hand.

WHILE the sporting calendar for Christmas week Is interesting with the ,Ji prospect of a match between Jim Flynn and Battling Levinsky, two or three 'outside events are attracting the attention of the sporting fraternity today. The Wolgast-White match in Milwaukee is being watched from the metropolis, for one thing, for there are several good local fighters who would like to meet both Ad and Charlie. Several bets have been placed here on the result, with Wolgast and White running about even. MAT MEN ars coming Into their own again and the big fellows who are warming their toes about the firesides of Gotham clubs are following with special Interest the performance of Alexander Aberg as he travels through Massachusetts winding up the week in Montreal. The town Is as full of, wrestlers as a hive of bees and each is telling what he can do to the other fellow. George Lurlch, the Russian, is creating some excitement this year

with his performance. He spent the summer in England learning new catch-as-catch-can holds and says he Is ready to meet anybody. THE Greek-American Athletic club will send not less than eight men to Athens next spring to compete In the International games to be held in connection with the coronation of King Constantine. Kick Gianakopolus, the crack distance runner, will go back home in time to have five weeks training on the Marathon Athens road. It was this very thing that won for Billy Sherrlng In 108. CHARLEY HERZOO. Giant third baseman, has gone and done It. Charley went and laid himself out a great little nine-hole golf course over his Maryland estate. He took a lot of time and trouble and did things up in good shape. When the course was prepared Charley dlscvered that he was absolutely off his game and unable to hit a ball with a club. EBBETS TO MEET

JOE TiHKER SOOH

Brooklyn Magnate Will Dis

cuss Terms of Contract With Ex-Manager.

Within five days Joe Tinker hopes to

know something definite about his own whereabouts in baseball. The recent

Red manager yesterday received let

ter from President Ebbets of the Brooklyn club suggesting a meeting to discuss the terms of a contract and Tinker has decided to meet the Dodger manager as requested. If the contract offered proves satisfactory. Tinker says, he will sign it, but not until he ia sure of getting that 110,000 bonus about which he has read so much.

This Ebbets letter is the only official

information Tinker has received con

cerning the sale of his services by Cincinnati to Brooklyn. Nothing has been heard from Cincinnati, and until his

conference with Ebbets the crack shortstop will remain as much In the

dark as ever. Where the conference is

to take place Tinker declined to say.

MORAN DISQUALIFIED

IZEVEDO WCH

British Lightweight Loses

Coast Bout on Foul in Sixth Bound.

San Francisco, Cat, Deo. 18. Owen Moran, the British lightweight, who a few years ago was regarded as a contender for the championship of the world, ended a losing fight with Joe Asevedo before the Wheelmen's club in

Oakland last night by butting himself into disqualification. The end came in the sixth round. Moran butted in the fifth round and was warned by Referee Jim Griffin. In the sixth round he rammed Asevedo with his head again, and the crowd began to hoot and cry "foul. Griffin, however, warned Moran a seoond time, but the warning was scarcely out of his mouth when the Britisher lowered his head and apparently butted Aseveda viciously. Griffin immediately made up his mind that Moran was the goat, and, stepping between the men, raised Aievedo's hand as the signal that he had won and Moran was disqualified. Azevedo. who bested Ad Wolgast In a ten-round encounter a few months ago, waded into Moran from the .first round and not only outfought but outboxed him all the way. Moran plainly showed that he had gone back. Ha tried all of his old tricks, but was too slow. Moran entered the ring a 10 to 6 favorite.
