The party was given to celebrate her birthday anniversary and she received many pretty gifts In remembrance of the day. A two course luncheon was served the guests at three o'clock. Carnations and roses decorated the table very attractively. llghtful time was spent. The hours until four o'clock were devoted to

needle work following which a prettily appointed two course luncheon was served. The next meeting of the club will occur In two weeks on Friday afternoon, January 2 and the hostess will

be Mrs. Lewis of Indiana avenue. AID SOCIETV MEETS. Mrs. Edith Griffin, Mrs. Mary Holm, Mrs .Elisabeth Shields and Mrs. W. C. Harrison were hostesses at the meeting of the Ladles' Aid Society of the First. Presbyterian church which was held " yesterday tn the parlors of the church, In South Hohman street. The members made preparations for the Christmas entertainment to be given at the church and also for the next regular meeting of the society at winch time the officers for the new year will be elected. Wednesday, January 7 is the date of the next meeting. A dinner was served the members between the hours of twelve and two o'clock. tian church In Calumet avenue. Dinner was served at noon following which the member devoted the after

Everett Merrill Is chairman. It was

decided not to meet again until the afternoon of December 31. The meet

Of St. Paul's Episcopal church held a work meeting yesterday afternoon In the guild room In Rlmbach avenue. On

account of the remodeling of the church tho meeting yesterday was the first to be held In several Weeks. The

room was gotten In readiness for serv

ices Sunday morning. The Rev. Webster of Chicago met with the members

of the guild and they planned a great

deal of work for the new year. There

will be no meetings during the holiday

season.

Mr. and Mrs. Carmlchael will be the guests of relatives In Rushville, Ind., for a few days before leaving for their home In Canada. This evening a dinner will be given in their honor by Mr. Carmichael's parents. They will be at home In Cedar. Quebec. The bride la the only daughter of Mrs. Carrie Parsons and one of Hammond's very charming young women. She is prominent socially In Hammond and following the anouncement of her engagement at a luncheon this season she was the honor guest at a number of pretty functions. Mr. Carmlchael Is engaged as a mechanical engtneer In Cedars. He was a resident o Hammond for a short time. Roth young people have a large circle of friends.
