ASSOCIATION VERY QUIET The South Side Improvement Is being evolved into a warm weather Institution. Vntll spring it is not expected to meet for the simple reason that all improvements in the suburb are undertaken In the spring and summer. The association has not entirely recovered from the rebuff it received by the city council when it went in a committee to place some matters before that body. With the chairman of the committee on his feet with his mouth open, ready to talk, the council adjourned right in his face. It was said that the mayor and the aldermen did;

FAMILY AFFAIR IN SUPERIOR COURT A family affair which Involves broth-
i era as the opposing attorneys, and a j daughter-in-law against her father-in-i law, is on trial in the superior court ! before Judge Reiter and a Jury. The
1 case is that of the state against Charles Gluth, an old'Sibly street resident,
formally charged with assault and battery with intent to kill his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henrietta Gluth. Relatives and neighbors have been summoned as witnesses, as well as physicians, who administered medical aid to the prin
cipals after their hand to hand con
flict, which the affidavit says took place on August 23. Mrs. Gluth. who is the. presecuting witness for the state. Is represented by Attorney James K. Stinson, and the defendant father-in-law is represented by Attorney John M. Stinson. This, however, is not the first time that the Stinson brothers have been on opposing sides In a case, they in the past having occasion to take their contests as far as the supreme court. The trouble of the Gluths which is now being aired in the courts, appears to have grown out of that close frictional relation which not Infrequently exists when father-in-law and daughter-in-law live under the same roof, as was the cose of the Gluths. Property rights and their disposition it appears, added to the discord, suits in justice and courts of record followed and on August 23 there ensued a violent physical encounter after a heated argument.

Manager Van Sickle of the Bijou will tonight throw in a tango contest, giving, because of circumstance, the biggest five-cent entertainment Hammond has ever had. The tango dancers at the Bijou are very good for young people. Their movements are entirely proper and give a good idea of the dance as it really Is.
