John Poico, nineteen years of age,
met a tragic death In the Inland mill
esterday at about 5 a. in. Polco was
laborer and was working In the
pen-hearth. He stepped in front of n ingot carrier which carries the
metal from the open hearth Into the

him, rolling his body from the should

An inquest was held this morning by
Dr. Frederick Sauer and a verdict of

Gary: Indiana Harbor cars will leave
Eleventh avenue and Broadway, Gary,
15 and 45 minutes after the hour.
Hammond-bound cars will leave the steel mills on the even hour and half
hour but between 9:00 a. m. and 3:00 p,
m. odd hour cars will leave the Elev enth avenue and Broadway station fo
Hammond and not from the steel mills
This affects the 9:00. 11:00. 1:00 and
3:00 o'clock cars.
Gary bound cars' will leave Ham
mond on the event and after hour.

AETNA POWDER MILLS CLOSED Gary and Miller merchants are feeling the effects of the closing down of the Aetna powder mills at Aetna. Nearly all of the 250 employes have been laid off, but all are not out of work i:s many have been transferred to the Mack powder mills at Fayville, 111. The plant has been in operation at Aetna for 21 years and the present shut down, due to lack of business, may last until spring.
