South Bend, Ind., Dec. 6- -Several hundred women from ' the different cities throughout northern Indiana are attending the opening session of the district rally of the Ladles of Maccabees of the World, which is being held In the Elks temple. In addition" to the social program which has been' arranged for the event, full exemplification of the new ritualistic work of the organiiation will - be conferred upon more than 100 candidates by ten degree teams from the different cities in the district. Local and supreme officers are in attendance at the meeting. At the conclusion of the program this afternoon an Informal reception for the visiting officers and delegates will be given by the members of the South Bend lodge, while the candidates who will be received tonight will be entertained following the evening program. Supper for the visiting members of the organization will be served by the ladies of the Reformed " church at 6 o'clock and the evening program will oJyn at 7:30 o'clock. The- largest delegation of women to attend the meeting, is probably from Elkhart, 200 having arrived in South Bend today, while 125 are here from Michigan City, 100 from Laporte, 75 from- Goshen, 100 from Mishawaka, In addition to the majority of '"the 700 members In South Bend and ' delegations from the smalle towns in the district. Mrs. Maxwell was in charge of the dining room, the various tables being presided over by Mrs. William Fox, Mrs. Tad White and Mrs. A. J. Barrett. Mrs. William Evans was In charge of the candy booth, Mrs. William Harding of the fancy work booth, Mrs. Richard Brown and Mrs. Thomas Cooksey of the domestic booth. Mrs. John Haywood was chairman of the committee in charge of the kitchen. The Aid wish to thank especially all those outside the members who donated their services and contributed atrlcles toward the supper and bazaar, and who' otherwise helped make the event the success it was.

The contract with the insurance company is for five years, and the company advances about $25,000, for which it is reimbursed by the payments from the men.
