QTAMIC umifLU THUG SERIOUSLY Stanley Bornska, who has heard the weaaing oeiis ring in his own behalf twice and was rehearsing for his third matrimonial plunge, was brought before Judge George H. Lewis, East Chicago, on a formal charge of wife aeseruon. out or the depths of his de spair, home for one ecstatic moment, burned with a gladsome flame In the bosom of Stanley, when his honor said, 'dismissed". Only one moment, how ever. The next he was withering In the clutches of Deputy Sheriff Blocki, yvui wuk mm 10 riammona to race a charge of contempt of court for fail ure to pay alimony, and sending threatening letters through the mails. When the state authorities and the United Mates authorities get through with him on these counts, if there is any thing left of him, he will still have to face a charga of wife desertion in Chicago. Judge Lewis did not say "dismissed" when Bornska was brought before him on the charge of desertion because he wanted to dismiss the prisoner. This was all he could do In view of the fact that the crime with which Bornska was charged Was committed In Chicago, 111. A general outline of the story of Bornska's career, barren of details, has been .heretofore set forth in these columns. " . Here are some of the details: Eight years ago the prisoner married wife No. 1 In Hammond. Her name was Anna and she proceeded to have five children by him. Two years ago the pair were divorced, he being commanded by the court to pay Anna $S a week alimony. It waa specified he must not take unto himself a second wife within a period of two years. However, a year ago h married Mary, his second wife, in Milwaukee. Two months sufficed to tire him of Mary whom he had brought to Chicago and there deserted her. He had met -a third charmer whose name does not figure in the police annals up to date, but It appears that he had matrimonial designs on her. In the mean time he had failed to pay hi first wife he alimony decreed by the court In ammond. Also he sent threatening letters to her, ' declaring that if She did not send him $1,000 by return mall he would 'Mil her. The two wives learning of ;his matrimonial Intentions, and aturally having it In for . Stanly on other scores, gfot Into communication with each other and his arrest was the result. The defendant' has been living irt one of the Calumet Kennedy Company cottages in Orassclli avenue, Calumet.

J. DIXON ! ARR ESTE D '

On a charge of desertion from the United States army, a man claimed to be James Dixon, alias Daly was arrested in East Chicago yesterday by Constable Victor Nadasoit. There are also weird stories afloat that the man 1 is also wanted for other' crimes, rang- ! ing from assault and battery to murder. Constable Nadasan said he had heard that the man had killed a" woman In Pittsburg, but whether this Is more than a rumor, he was not pre pared to say. Dixon, or Daly as he was known to those with whom he had acquaintance In this city, was a detective In the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad company and had been In East Chicago only about two weeks, having taken a room In Olcott avenue between Chicago avenue and One Hundred and Fortyeighth street. Yesterday afternoon a detective from Chicago came to East Chicago to arrest Dixon. He had no authority to make the arrest in Indiana, however. so Nadasan accompanied him to the place where Dixon was rooming and made the arrest for the -Chicago officer at 7 o'clock last evening... ' The man, who is said to be married, and whose wife paid him a visit of a couple of days recently, denied thlt he was the roan, wanted and claimed a case of. mistaken identity. He was taken hack, to Chicago .en the Pennsylvania train. Mr. Ndasan who made - the arrest, until Monday was merely a deputy constable. On that day however, accompanied by Dell Funkhouser he went to Crown Point where he was appointed by the county commissioners as constable, to succeed . George Nestorvlch, resigned. GLEASON TO QETPLUM" The Jcliet Herald prints the following dispatch under a Gary date line: It Is officially stated today that William P. Gleason, formerly of Jollet and now superintendent of the Indiana Steel company' here, would be the appointee of Mayor-elect Johnson for the position of chairman of the board of public works. The position pays f2,000 a year, and it is regarded as the biggest "plum" In the administration's power to give. x Mr. Oleason will be able to retain his position as superintendent of the mill In conjunction with the new office. Herbert Francis, another former resident of Jollet. is being boomed as a candidate for the position of chief of police. NOTHING IS OF ORBAlER IMI'OR.
