Arthur, ten-year-old son of Jacob Vhl, a dairyman, at Elkhart, was seized by two older boys and his left hand placed on a stone and pounded with an Iron bar. The middle finger was severed back of the first joint. The other fingers were lacerated. Arthur's twelve-year-old brother was held by a third assailant. The victim broke away and ran home crying. Both had been assailed by the same trio before, but they do not know the Identity of the boys. The police are investigating.

(Special to Ths Times.) Fort Wayne, Ind.. Nov. 20. Distinctive program features for , the fortyfourth annual convention of the Indiana Young Men's Christian Association to be held in this city December 5, 6 and 7, were announced today by th. state executive committee. As usual, one of the big events of the three-day session will be th. business men's dinner on the evening of December 5, at which A.' II. Llchty, state secretary of the Ohio T. M. C, A., and C. B. Kessinger of Vlncennes, president of the Indiana association, will be the principal speakers. The program for the dinner also includes a panoramic view of the association activities in Indiana, the United States and foreign lands as well as the substantial growth of the : institution in this state. The meeting for men, which is also a strong attraction In annual convention events, will be held Sunday afternoon. President E. A. Uanley of Franklin college will make the address. Willi, th. men's meeting is in progress sessions for women and boys will be held In a number of Fort Wayne churches, th. speakers being selected from those on th. convention program.
Shop and factory meetings in several different sections of the city will take place on Friday and Saturday at noon, conducted by A. Bruce Minear of the international committee, who founded the . association in the Panama canal zone, and by Conductor "Jim" Burwick of the Duluth & Iron Range railroad. On the morning of December' 7 convention speakers will deliver a citywide message from practically every pulpit in Fort Wayne and the work of the association throughout the state will be explained. Group conferences of city, student and railroad associations will be addressed by competent speakers, among whom are Rev. Ernet Bourner Allen of Toledo, Ohio, and Dr. John M. Coulter of the University of Chicago. Local committees are arranging automobile trips about the city for delegates arivlng Friday morning. The parks and playground system will be inspected and some of the industries visited. It is announced that lodging, breakfast and Sunday dinner in the honjes of Fort Wayne residents will be provided for student delegates and others on request. Special rates have been secured at the hotels.
