Crown Point Mews Happenings of a Day In Lake County's Lively Capital

THE NEW VICTOR HEATER BURNS AIR

The marriage of Miss Mau,d Sherman to Joseph Klein occurred this morning: at St. Mary's Catholic church before a large gathering of frlenda and relatives of the bride and groom, who are well and favorably known In this vicinity. A big; wedding: feast and reception to the bride and groom will be held at the farm home of the bride's parents northwest of this city this evening-, to which many guests are Invited. County Auditor-elect Ed Simon and family moved from Hammond yesterday and are now occupying their new home on East Joliet street, recently purchased from the Henderlong Bros. Miss Helen Hurd of Rockford. 111., ..Is visiting this week with Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher on East street. The funeral of Raymond, the 14-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Foes, occurred today, a large concourse of the friends and relatives of the family attending the sad rites. The

remains were laid at rest In the Crown Point cemetery, and much sympathy is expressed for the family In their sad affliction. The marriage of Miss Pauline Bosel and M. "Walter Jacobs occurs this evening at the Lutheran church, the services to be conducted by Rev. Belster, pastor. The couple are well known ; and universally liked in this city and have a host of friends to congratulate them upon the happy event. They will reside after a short wedding trip In ' the Groman home on South Court street recently vacated by . Harry Swart i and family.

Mrs. John Grlesel Is moving into her newly completed home on South Court street this week. The sale at the Monix farm yesterday was attended by trainers and buy

ers from all over the county, and it Is said the cattle and stock brought good prices. Yesterday's horse market was rather slimly attended, the farmers at this

time of the year being too busy to at

tend the sale. But few horses were sold as compared to other sales, but the good ones brought fancy prices. Ducks were plentiful at Cedar Iake yesterday, but were very wary, keeping in the center of the lake nearly all day. One large flock probably numbering three or four hundred, dis

ported themselves the entire afternoon

in the water just out of gunshot reach, much to the distrust of several hunters from the city who had traveled

Cedar Lakeward in order to get a shot at the wild duck in Its favorite haunts. The Hazard club met recently at the home of Mrs. George W. Fisher. The

prizes at cards were won by Mrs. Ver

non Parry and Mrs. E. F. Farley.

Herbert E Jones, Charlen Lamberg

and George Hershman are In Indiana

polis this week as delegates to thi grand lodge of Odd Fellows, represent

ing the local order. Charles Lamberg Is one of the novitiates who will be

lnitltaed into the grand lodge myste ries during the present session.

this place has purchased a photograph gallery at Hobart, Ind., the only one In that town. Mr. Newman has had several years' experience as a photog

rapher and goes to Hobart well recommended in that line. S. A. Love Is looking for a purchaser for his Leroy business and saya as soon as he disposes of his property there that he will move to Crown Point, erect a residence and become a permanent citizen here.

ashes; the 44 per cent, of combustible gas was capable of producing as much heat as the carbon, provided it was really burned and did not escape unconsumed. The new Victor diaphragm takes the 44 per cent, of combustible gas, mixes it with air and makes heat. Up from
