The manager of the East Chicago football team called up late Friday afternoon and cancelled their game with Hegwisch scheduled for Sunday, giving as an excuse that the team had disbanded. A very flimsy hole to crawl out of, considering it is nearly three weeks before Thanksgiving. To one on the outside it looks as thepugh they have a very severe attack of "cold feet." Hegwisch should be more careful hereafter, the kind of sports they do busi ness with. The Hegewlsch A. A. football team added another game to its long list of victories yesterday by defeating the speedy Marlowes, of Pullman, 35 to 6. This is the first time Hegewisch has been scored on this year, and it certainly is no discredit, considering the fact that they were outyelghed about ten pounds to the man. The Marlowes also had two Wendell Phillips high school players with them. J. Fuehrmeyer was the leading star, who aside from scoring three touchdowns and kicking four goals, was the most conslsten ground gainer, often carrying thre and four men from five to fifteen yards before being downed. Dick Long scored the other two touchdowns. The game was marred two or three times by rough taetocs on the part of the Marlowe players, two of whom had to be removed from the game. This Is by far the fastest and heaviest team Hegwisch has played this year, and it will take a mighty strong team to defeat them. Martin Pinto, while working on the old White farm Saturday unearthed two and a half feet underground a tooth that must have belonged to a monster mastadone that ages ago must have roamed this section. The tooth has four nrongs and is about four inches long and about two inches wide. It is in a fair state of preservation and the monster that possessed a mouthful of such teeth must have had a powerful pair of Jaws and If of a man-eating species, was certainly a dangerous enemy to man as well as of other beasts.
