FIREMEN HAVE AFINE BALL In the neighborhood of nearly fourhundred couples attended the third annual ball of the Hammond Firemen at Assembly hall last night and participated in one of the most enjoyable events of the season. With the large sale of tickets, the hall was found In adequate and as early as 9 o'clock, the floor was packed to its capacity. Mr. and Mrs. William Nill led the grand march to the strains of the Moose orchetsra and were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. James Ryron. Eight hundred souvenir programs were distributed among the dancers who enjoyed themselves until the early hours of this morning. Special cars were used for conveying Whiting, Rt.bertsdal and East Chicago people back home. Every one unanimously voted the Hammond Firemen royal entertainers and In every particular the dance was a huge success. The proceeds will be turned ove rto the Firemen's pension fund.

The study for the afternoon was "Serving Breakfast" and the program was arranged by Mrs. James Dickson, chairman of the domestic science department. Following the
