PINAFORE 1AY BE PUT ON PROFESSIONAL STAGE

A furore is sweeping the musical circles of Hammond today that bids well to command more of "Pinafore" as sung and acted by the Clark Learning choir of the Calumet avenue Christian church. It is desired that it be repeated in the eluxe theatre here. In the Lyric at East Chicago and at Gary. These plans are tentative. Clark Learning, who relaxed last evening and cavorted with a patch over his eye as Dick Peadeye, stated today that an effort Is being made to secure the two aforementioned theatres for a repetition of the opera. People have been turned away at the initial performances and there are many desirous of attending again. ' Improved In Every Re. 'Pinafore" was sung with greater volume and a bigger punch last evening to a capacity crowd. Everyone unbended. James Graves, republican candidate at large sang a better tonor, his throat relieved of a cold. Helen Ford as Buttercup added eprlghtliness to her rotund personality, H. L, Ingraham as the admiral created a type

that will never fade from the minds of his friends and admirers. Miss Mildred lngraham echoed "the uncles and the cousins and the aunts" in a fine alto and H. L. Erkman won generous applouse with his "Boatswain" songs. H. C. Hatfield, one of the lovers carried his part well and the both the male and female chorus did splendid. Mrs. Bona Robertson lead the orchestra In perfect tempo. Wool folk Seen the Show. "With the exception of the leads. Miss

Marguerite Haefer and Clark Learning, none of the singers have reputations for the sort of work they are doing. The excellence of the production is taken as an example of what thorough training and persistent practice will do. The choir has practiced constantly for months. Tloyla Woolfolk. the producer of theatrical entertainments heard Miss Marguerite Haefer last evening. He was greatly pleased and predicted a future for her in concert or opera work. The Orpheum sousrht to put the choir on In Pinaforo but the opera is much too long.
