Hammond essentially a football

town is a divided city today. The question Is not; who are we for, Purdue or Chicago? but, shall we root for

Blocker or Kennedy?

This town has never before been rep

resented on both sides of a gridiron battle as Important as the ChicagoPurdue game this afternoon. It is ac

cepted as certain that Walter Kennedy

of the Maroons will play and Frank Blocker of Purdue is a regular guard.

Plum Not Eligible.

Had not Bernard Plum, a Turdue

student also of Hammond, failed in bis German while making excellent grades

in all other, studies, Hammond would have three men in the big game. Plum

is the equal of Blocker in all depart

ments of the game according to fans.

He was in Hammond this morning

visiting his parents and though barred

from the game he is as enthuiastlc as

any.

Plum will be able to play next year.

He has allowed himself to be used as
