The next meeting will be held in two weeks on Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. E. Wolf, 446 East State street.

Mrs. W. A. Buchanan entertained very charmingly the members of the Alpha Phi Club yesterday afternoon at her home In South Hohman street. The members were present with the exception of one. They spent the afternoon very enjoyably with their needle work and at four o'clock were served with a beautifully appointed luncheon. The table was decorated with American beauty roses. In two weeks on Friday afternoon, October 81 the members of the club will be entertained by Mrs. E. W. Bump at her home in South Hohman street. Mrs. Bump will be hostess at a thimble party.

A SEWER ACCIDENT. There was a cave-In in a sewer trench on the 139th street Improvement yesterday, in which one man was Injured. He was: L. M. SchulU, 4820 Olcott avenue. East Chicago, collar bone broken. Schults has been employed as foreman on the Job, where the sewer Is being laid preparatory to paving. He was the only man on the Job at the point where the banks of the ditch gave away and he was crushed by the billowing sand which piled on top of him. There had been other men working with him but a short while before, but they had left the ditch. He was laying pipe. Schults was game and managed to get to Schlieker's drug store on the street car, where his fractured collar bone was reset.
