yesterday afternoon to the member of Circle No. 1 at her homt in Clinton street. Cards were the entertainment for the afternoon, the member playing peyro progressively at four tables. Mrs. Jacob Kussmaul won the first honor and prices were also won byMrs. Jncob Vets and Mrs. O. I. lUymui. A dainty two course luncheon was served the guests after the card Kfmes. The members arranged to hold their next meeting In two weeks on Thursday after the card games. A SOCIAL EVENT. One of the most enjoyable dancing parties of the season was that given

last evening in the PaPron Academy

in the Orpheum building by the members of St. Joseph's Council No. 21 and Loretta Council No. 28 Catholic

Benevolent League. The affair was

very largely attended. The Grand March opened the program of dances at nine-thirty o'clock. The grand march was lead by Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kneozer assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Bogner and Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor. A program of sixteen dances was enjoyr

ed during the evening. A delicious frappe was served. The Academy orchestra played for the dance and the

program was a very pretty one. AS ENJOYABLE! MEETIXG. Mrs. J. L. Rhode, Mrs. Parduhn and Mrs. Magdanz were the hostesses at

the meeting of the Ladles' Aid Society

of St. Taul's Lutheran church which was held yesterday afternoon in the church parlors in Clinton street. A dainty luncheon was served during the social hour. A collection was taken as is customary at the meetings and a nice amount was realized which will be used by the society for the benefit of the church. The members Quilted during the afternoon and accomplished a great deal of work. A large number of members were in attendance at the meeting. A SOCIAL MEETING.

Mrs. Walter Blelefelt opened her home in Webb street yesterday afternoon for the meeting of the Baptist

i Women's Union. The president, Mrs.

W. A. Hill presided at the meeting. The program for the afternoon was in charge of the social department of which Mrs. Ray Fowler is chairman. Following the program a dainty two course luncheon was served and a delightful time was spent socially.
