Wedding V Social Event.
The marriage of Miss Jeanne Hyman
to Mr. Gregory took place In January
and was one of the social events of Oak Park. Many Gary people, includ-

WORKS BOARD
HOLDS MEETING The board of public works of the
city of East Chicago met this morning
and attended to considerable business,
routine and otherwise.
The clerk was Instructed to adver
tise for remonstrances on the paving
of Tod avenue from 141st to 145th
streets, and Narva place from Tod ave
nue to Railroad avenue. The bids will include four kinds of paving, brick.
asphalt, macadam, bi-tullthic and bi
tuminous macadam. The petitions for
these improvements were turned in
some time ago. After the bids are re
ceived It will be determined what sort
of pavement will be used.
The Green line and the Gavlt line
have been ordered to replace the ma
cadam pavement In Guthrie and Cedar
streets outside their rails in the same
condition It was in before they began
work on the tracks. Brick has been
laid between the rails, but the compa
nies have merely filled In one each side
of the track, and the city will not per
mit this job to remain in Its present
unfinished state.
