Fortner were quietly married last Wednesday evening at St. Joseph's rectory In South llohman street. The ceremony was performed at seven o'clock by the Rev. Father Pad In a. The ring ceremony was us:d. Miss Clara Porta and Gus Portz, the eiater and brother of the bride were the only attendants. The bride was attired in a handsome tailored suit of Kind's blue and a plumed hat to correspond. She wore a corsage bouquet of bride's roses and lillies of the valley. Misa Port wore a beautiful gown of Tslue charmeuse and a white plumed hat. Her flowers were pink rose buds. Immediately after the-ceremony a wed ding supper was served at the home of the bride's father at 24 Doty street, i The dinner was ono of beautiful ap-j pointments served in seven courses. A bouquet of roses 'arranged attractively with ferns decorated the center of the table. The btidal colors, white and green were carried out in all the decorations. Only the Immediate rela tives and a few Intimate friends were guests at the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Fortner left late that evening on their wedding- trip. They will visit at Niagara Falls and Buffalo after which they will be at home with the bride's father, John Portz at 24 Doty street. They received many beautiful feifts from friends and relatives. Hoth young people are well known In Hammond and will receive the best wishes of their many friends. Among the guests at the wedding dinner were Mr. Portz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Al Fprtz, Miss Maude Emmert of Chicago, Miss Schere of Chicago, Miss Clara Strouse and Mr. P. Reilley. STORV HOI K AT LIBRARY. Miss Carrie Littler will entertain the children who come to the Hammond Public Library tomorrow for the Story Hour between ten and eleven o'clock. BRIDGE CXin MEETS. Mrs. L. J. Kelly entertained the members of the Golden Rod Whist Club very pleasantly yesterday afternoon at her home in Highland street. Bridge whist was played at two tables. High score was made by the hostess and honors were also won by Mrs. Davles and Mrs. G. H. Clover. After the card games a prettily appointed luncheon was served. The next meeting of the club will occur in two weeks and the hostess will be Mrs. Davies of High land street. AN AUTOMOBILE TRIP. Dr. and Mrs. H. G. Merz and son. Henry of "Warren street motored to River Forest, 111., today. Henry Merz I will nter college at River Forest. JIOOR MISS TROST. Miss Huldo Schreiber was hostess last evening to a number of her friends at the home of her - sister Mrs. John Kerber. 362 Indiana avenue. Miss Schreiber entertained at a miscellane ous shower in honor of Miss M&belle Trost who will be an October bride. The home was very prettily decorated In flowers and greenery. A large basket of pink and white hung from the center of the room in which the num erous and pretty gifts to Miss Trost were placed. After games and music were enjoyed the guests were Invited Into the dining room where a three course luncheon was served. The cen ter piece for the table consisted of pink and white asters. Miss Schreibers guests were: Mr. and Mrs. John Kerber, Mrs. Fandrel, Mrs. Meyers, Mrs. Schreiber, Mrs. Kaster and Misses Jennie Johnson, Anna and Emma Doehring, Hester Thurston, Phoebe Teeple, Grace Trost, Alice Laity, Jessie Rohde, Mable Trost and Mr. Vernon Cupp. LEAVES FOR ARIZOVt. Mrs. George Nlst o 658 Morton Court has left for Phoenix, Ariz., for the ! benefit of her health. Mrs. Nist sub mitted to an operation on her throat two weeks ago. A DELIGHTFUL PARTY. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Belman at their home "The Oaks" in Glendale were host and hostess at a most delightful party last evening. They entertained in com pliment to the members of the choir and the music committee of the First Methodist church and there were fifty in attendance. An indoor field meet and a musical contest were features -f the evening's entertainment which afforded a great deal of merriment. A, two course luncheon was served.
