first time in months. The 8:48, which is patronized by over a hundred Hammondites nearly every morning, did not arrive until half past eleven today. It was held near Indiana Harbor by the breaking of some vital part of the engine.
QUO VADISJPICTURES. '"Quo Vadis," the photo-novel, came to the Deluxe yesterday as an extra feature for three days. As near as can be determined this is the first appearance of the play In a city the size of Hammond. Naturally
the promoters who have found "Quo Vadis" a gold mine at the Astor theatre In New York, and McVlckers in Chicago as well as thoughout the big city circuits are watching its reception in Hammond. The matinee yesterday was poor but the first show in the evening large. Word has gone out that "Quo Vadis" is "great" so that it will seem strange indeed if the Duluxe is not filled at every subsequent performance. A bothersome blur marred the rictupres to an extent last evening. The reason given is that the films were washed and rewound too soon after ward. This will have disappeared by
today, but it made It unpleasant for spectators last night.
At the Orpheum. There is entire change of bill at the Orpheum commencing today. High class vaudeville will be the attraction at the popular playhouse for three days, featuring Burns and Fulton, in their terpsichoren classics. As a dancing duo this team remains unaurpasned by any. A school act entitled "Three Kids From School" should prove a big drawing card, especially for the children.

New Divorce Case. An alleged inhospitable mother-in-
law, and a wife's alleged preference to
live with her mother rather than with her husband, has caused the latter, Arthur Puntney, to institute divorce proceedings against his wife.
A suit for abandonment against him
was dismissed in the superior court this morning on the ground that his wife would not live with him even
though the court might force him.

Boy Is Located.
Hammond was the center of a city
wide search for another missing per
son yesterday. After being mourned
as lost or having met with foul play, since August 2nd, when he ran away
from his home in Cleveland, O., 14 year old Leon Hawkins was located In Hammond and today is on his way home in the custody of a happy father.
Boyish like, young Hawkins built
air castles of the glowing opportunities and fortunes which he had read
or in books that sometimes await a
young man in the big far-away west
With this thought prying on his mind
he encouraged another companion to
ccompany him and on the second of
August the pair ran away from their
homes at Cleveland, leaving two anx
ious parents.
Their travels brought them as far
as Hammond and without funds they
applied for help at the home of J.
Bear at East Hammond. They secured
employment at the Standard Steel
Car Works, one heating rivets while the oter secured a job putting threads on bolts. Young Hawkins' companion
found the grind too hard and after
quiting his Job skipped his board bill.
But young Hawkins was determined
to keep on and made two and three dollars a day. This week, however.
Mr. Bear learned that Hawkins has
run away from home, and he wrote
a letter to the lad's parents. A re
sponse came yesterday that some one
would come to Hammond to take him
bark home.
Hawkins was turned over to the
custody of the police and after spend
ing a day in a cell at the Central station, the runaway was only too
glad to accompany his father. He did
not carry back a fortune with him,
but had two severly calloused hands,

Nell, who has been the pride of the

little heart would break.
