of venue. The petition for a change was therefore resubmitted to Judge Becker and by agreement of the contending parties th case was certified to Judge McMuhan of the circuit court at Crown Point. The Injunction asks that the city and the contractor be enjoined from proceeding with the' opening and pav ing of the alley across their tracks between State and Sibley streets. Both Judges admitted this morning that they had pretty well defined Ideas on what the railroads ought to do with respect to opening the public thor oughfare, having come in contact with the question when It was raised before the Chamber of Commerce some time ago. Both of the courts believed them selves capable of considering the ques tion in the abstract, but owing to their percullar positions. Judge Reiter as president of the Chamber and Judge Becker as a director, assuming jurisdiction of the case would have been rather embarrassing for both. We are greatly Indebted to many good people and organizations in our city for their valuable assistance during the first year of the existence of the Lake County Humane Society. As we have handled much less than one hundred dollars, we could have accomplished but little without outside help. Among those who rendered valuable assistence are The Ladies Aid of the Christian Endeavor, the Jewish
Aid Society, the Christian Endeavor, and Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian church, the Settlement House, the Police force, Township Trustee and his assistant, the 'Woman's club, the Washington and Central schools, the Mothers Club of the Lincoln school, and many charltabley inclined citizens. These have made it possible for us to Investi gate and relieve many cases of dis tress of both men and our dumb creatures. Fandom Is bathed in tears of Joy today. It has its Jimmy back and he is still the clean-cut, smooth-faced, stalwart "Jeems" hero of a hundred scraps. Despite all rumors to the contrary the countenance of Jimmy Clabby is unblemished by a mustache, or even the semblance of a mustache. And added to that Great Caeser'a grandmother! they expected to see the waxed ends of a fuzzy mustache protruding on each side of Jimmy's otherwise comely face. But now after a careful scrutiny of the conquerer's upper Hp they are doubtful. It is reported that traces of a razor's recent work can be seen while it is evident that the whiskers have not been cut for at least twentyfour hours. Why then,' fans ask, would Jimmy Bhave his upper lip without making the Job general, unless lack-a-day, the aforesaid lip was adorned by a mustache. Tbrre Victories In Two Months. This pair In their "terpsichorean classics" have made a big hit all over the country and have just finished a very successful tour throughout the east. They entertain with dancing, snatches of song and character Impersonations. Their program is as follows: An American song and d ance by both, an acrobatic buck dance by Miss Fulton, an English vaudeville performer's idea of American coon songs, by Burns; a Spanish fandango by Miss Fulton, and an acrobatic dance by both. They have a whirlwind dance finish that would make Molasso and Genee sick with envy. They work i a brown and gold velvet settings, which Is the neatest and most striking bit of scenery that many a week has revealed. Besides this feature attraction there will be three other big acts and a three-reel feature picture, a French production, "The Tomb of Flame." Burns and Fulton will be preceded on the bill by Edgar Schooley & Co., In the big comedy racing act, "Jimmy, the Tout."
