Mott who have just returned from their honeymoon. A BRIDGE PARTY. A most delightful party was given yesterday afternoon at the Hammond Country Club. It was the third In the
series of afternoon - entertainments planned for the ladies of the club and there were many in attendance. Among the out of town guests were Mrs. John E. Fltigerald's mother, Mrs. Sexton of Chicago, Mrs. K. M. Burr of Gary. Mrs. Eunice Touche and Mrs. John B. Peterson of Crown Point. The guests played cards at seven tables. After six games of bridge whist had been played the honors were awarded to Mrs. H. C. Groman, who had high score for the afternoon. Mrs. Richard O. Winckler and Mrs. Harry M. Johnson had the arrangements of the party in charge.

member of the club. A MJSIONARY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the First Methodist church was held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs.'. W. H. Spellman In Carroll street. The pro
gram for the afternoon was In charge of Mrs. M. M. Towle who also conducted the Engima study. After the devotional exefcises 'lead by Mrs. Congdon a reading entitled "Do You Know" was given by Mrs. Frank O. Fraley. There was a reading by Mrs. Dake and the story of Soo Chan was told by Mrs. Towle. Mrs. Louis Freeman gave the
musical program. She sang very sweetly "Lord Be Merciful." During the social hour Mrs. Spellman and Mrs. E. S. Tillman the hostesses served the large company of ladies with dainty refreshments. Funeral Services. Funeral services of Mrs. George Schnurr, 111 Ingraham avenue. West Hammond, were held from the family residence this afternoon at one o'clock. The remains were then taken to the West Hammond German Lutheran church where services were held at 2 o'clock. Interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery.

Able to Leave Hospital. "Ned" Nelson, Hammond's popular bowler, who has been conflned In the Pt. Margaret's hospital the past week, suffering from ptomaine poisoning, was able to leave the hospital yesterday, although he has not fully recovered from his Illness.

Fire Chief Better. Friends of Fire Chief Teter IUschnelder, received welcome news from Martinsville, Ind., yesterday, to the effect that he is rapidly improving and hopes to be home In a short time. Mr. Dilschneider was taken ill with a severe attack of rheumatism over a month ago and Is now in a sanitarium at Martinsville where he Is finding the treatments very helpful.
Driver Hurt.
William Newman, 34T Indiana avenue, employed as a driver for Prevo Bros. Grocery and meat market , was painfully Injured Monday afternoon when he slipped and fell from the wag-on, striking his side. While his Injuries are not considered serious, they caused him much pain and wll kep him from his work for several days. He is reported getting along nicely today.
Death of Fire Marshal. Fira Marshal Florian Nordlnskl of West Hammond died last night at his home, 416-154th place. The cause Is given as quick consumption. t . Nardlnskl waa taken ill less than a month ago. It waa not until recently, however, that friends learned his disease to be incurable. The deceased leaves a wife and a family of eight. The funeral will be held at St. Andrew's church Friday and burial at Holy Cross cemetery.

Manager Van Sickle certainly made a hit with the school children when he inaugurated a special Saturday matinee for them and they are now looking forward to every Thursday when he distributes the special tickets at each school. 4 On last Saturday 1,256 children saw the pleasing vaudeville and pictures and went wild over Fannie DeBoll A Company's sketch "Fun In a Country School." This is the record for a children's matinee In Hammond which Manager Van Sickle expects to eclipse next Saturday the weather permitting.
