MRS. Al'BRV Ji. HOSTKSS. A very enjoyable meeting of the R. A. E. Club took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. A. Aubry In Michigan avenue. Mrs. Aubry was hostess at a thimble party and her guests spent the afternoon very pleasantly with their needle work. A dainty two course luncheon was served at four-thtrty o'cJork. guest prizes were won by Mrs. Frank Waller and Mrs. Frank Cope. After

This week's meeting of the Ladles' Aid Society of the First Congregational church was held Wednesday afternoon in the parlors of th- church In Gostlln street. The members devoted a part of

the afternoon to work for the socletv and accomplished a great deal of sew

members nere in attendance at th meeting. MEETING IS POSTPONED. The next meeting of the Humane So

ciety will be held Monday. September 8 in Dr. Watson's office In the Hammond building. The meeting which was announced would be held Monday evening, September 1 has been postponed. A IAWX SOCIAL,. The Willing Workers department of the N. S. I. Club of the First Congregational church gave a lawn social at the home of Mrs. William Bothwell in Hoffman street last evening and realized a nice sum which will be used for the benefit of the church. Ice cream and cake were served from small tables during the evening. The tables were

decorated very prettily with garden flowers and the lawn was illuminated with Japanese lanterns. The affair was attended by a large number of Hammond people all of whom report having spent a very enjoyable evening. ' RESOLlmss. At the last regular meeting of Progressive Court, No. 166, Tribe of Ben Hur, the following resolutions were

adopted:

among us our esteemed brother, Jacob K. Kennedy, who passed to the Great Beyond July 29, 1913. Be it resolved that, In the death of Brother Kennedy this court lost a true member and his family a loving husband and father whose place in their

home and hearts can never be filled. Resolved that this court extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. We. can only commend them lo Him whose ways we do not understand. Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family of our deceased Brother, a copy be spread on the minutes of our court and a copy sent

William Bothwell is expected to return to his home in Hoffman street Monday after a few weeks visit In the east. He went to Boston to attend the Plumbers Convention to which he yvius sent as a delegate from Hammond and from there left for New Tork City for a short visit. He will also spend a few days at Buffalo and Niagara Falls before returning to Hammond.
