HAMMOND TEAM BADLY JANDICAPPED Michigan City Golfers Invade Local Country Club Today. On the eve of their third match with the crack Michigan City golf team the most vital One of the season the Hammond golf team received the most discouraging news that Capt. Charles Barry, Jr., was ill In bed at his home in Chicago and would not be able to play today. As according to the contract between the two teams the same players starting in the match this afternoon will have to play next Saturday in the deciding game of the aeries to be pJayed at Michigan City. Capt. Barry's sickness is a serious blow and will be a grave handicap to Hammond's hopes of winning, as Mr. Barry In all the previous matches with Michigan City has been pood for from 3 to 5 holes over his oponent and he Is the only seasoned player on the Hammond team. The Hammond eight will be Messrs. Rohde. Merritt, Smith, Gromann, Crawford, Parry, Burr and Cox. Much interest is displayed in the event as it undoubtedly means the loss of the cup if Hammond cannot win today. SHORT OF MONEY? If so, come to us; we can supply you. ORPH SHOW IS GREAT FORJASHIOflS Some X-Ray Costumes and Then Some in "I Should Worry" Tabloid. X-ray costumes, giddy music, gauzy scenery and misfit dress suits are visible at the Orpheunr this week in a transparent, slit-skirt show that has few- petticoats and fits close to the frame, with a clinging, drapery effect. It Is a model for the, fall and winter fashions in tabloid varieties. To the box office it represents exactly what the public wants. They raveover it, thrive on it, grow fat and sassy laughing at it. Here are. the merits and demerits in the cast of "I Should Worry": Flossie Gay, single and unattached? Caroline Ross. Jack Sharp, you want to watch that guy, Archie Foulk. Alphonse, a Daunish. Frenchman, F. Russell. Uncle Jasper, property man and paper hanger, Charlie Mac. Miss Shape, clever make-up and R. & G., Grace MacCartney. Deacon Jones, a feeble churchman, Russell Frost. Casey, Hogaa and Mrs. Casey-Barney Flyrnn 'Cus Saville, May Wallace. And a number of hard-working, good, bad and indifferent chorus girls who do their best to please and climb op and down flights of narrow stairs

SUll REALTY SALES CONTINUE BRISKLY A gist of small deals are going through the real estate mill this, month, an indication of brisk fall building. Gostlin and Meyn sold thirtylots in the week now passing and salesmen from that concern have mora prospects on their books than a reporter has tips. 1,.10,04M Spent la Homrwood. The most significant thing about the market this week is the optimistic spirit manifest. Gostlin and Meyn made the startling statement that Homewood today represents a million and a half In property values. With all that they state that values are , rock bed and the boom has not yet commenced. I Take It Quietly. Away from the Calumet region a city being built within a city would be cause for great elation. But since the booming of Gary nothing will startle the district hereabouts. Not even the arrival of new industries and the spending of a million and a half in a limited suburban territory, all for homes. Max F. Allaben has purchased property on Ruth street where he announces he will build a $6,000 residence. GARY GETS NEXT M. D. MEETING " tContlnuad from Para 1.1 and the paper had about as full a dis cussion a sany of the afternoon. They Praise The Hotel. In its notes of the meeting the La porte Herald said: Even though they may differ on point in the profession, all of the Tenth district doctors from Lowell to East Chicago can agree on the fact that the Hotel Rumely is the swellest yet. East Chicago doctors hold that their city is soon going to be the center of the universe, and they don't worry much about either Gary or Hammond overshadowing them. There was a, spirit of good fellowhsip shown at the meeting which it would seem would shatter that old tradition about most doctore being unfriendly and; jealous of each other. Jokes were given and taken as freely as sug gestions. rr. Harry Sharrer of Hammond seemed curious about Dr. Hansel's twins and was much relieved to find that the doctor waa referring to pa tients of his. COMBISATIOH. Yon can smoke and rtw "Country Clnb." A prominent . and indisputably veracious Homewood man found between 80 and 100 dead, dying and wounded sparrows . on the porch of his home opposite Harrison Park during a lull in last Thursday night's storm. He was awakened by the noise an army of birds made as theybeat against the windows of his home, blown from the trees in the park by the wind. All the cats, in the neighborhood were there he says. They devoured sparrows until their stomachs dragged on the ground. Some of the cats died from acute indigestion, right on the front porch and between the cats and the sparrows the H. M. certainly put in one awful night. He removed birds and cats with a broom and shovel. topic, "Books that have Helped Me." Leader, Miss Ethel Hathaway. ' Mrs. Seehase'S case is a particularly sad one, inasmuch as she might have been spared, had the trouble been taken in time. However, the sufferer so dreaded a possible operation that in spite of the fact that her family physi cian advised it, early in the course of the trouble, she could not bring herseir to race the ordeal. Finally, when in response to the repeated urging of husband and friends,, she did go to Rochester, Minn., to consult with tho famous Drs. Mayo, they tol dher thi disease had progressed too far to be arrested. The deceased was born at Clark Station where her parents still reside in 1882.
