A RECEPTION.
A reception in honor of Mra. William j
Henry Huenn, who was formerly Miss Ethel Wolf, Mrs. Albert Hudson, formerly Mrs. Alice E. Sohl and Henry I. Fuller, whose marriages took place
this summer was given last evening by the members of Hammond Tempi No. 73 Pythian Sisters. The honor guests who are all members of the Temple were given pretty gifts, Mrs. Huehn being presented with a handsome mirror, Mrs. Hudson with a cut glass bowl and Mr. Fuller with silver knives and forks. Mrs. Alice. Haney mad the presentation in behalf of the ' members of the Temple. There was a short musical program fallowing ' which, a supper was served. Tho K. of P. Hall which, the seen of the reception was decorated very prettily for the ocaslon. The reception was given fallowing the regular semi-monthly meeting of the Hammond Temple No. 73 Pythian Sisters. There was only routine work but a large number of members were present and they greatly enjoyed, the evening.

Metnoaist cnapei took place Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. McConnell on Van Buren street. Among the features of the business session was arranging to revise the constitution and by-laws in keeping with the pro-' gress of the society which is four years old, having had four presidents during that time. Mrs. Abbott served first, then Mrs. Wells, then Mrs. Van Gilder, Mrs. Wells following her with a second term, Mrs. Preaton succeeding Mrs. Wells. Tho ladies will go to
Lake Front Park within the next ten days for an outing, and will for vnce forget the art of money making, and will enjoy a jolly good day. At the close of the business session Mrs. Preston, in behalf of the society, presented Mrs. Wells, the retiring pretdent. with a handsome box of sliver of four pieces. Although surprised beyond measura Mrs. AVells expressed
her appreciation in a happy little speech. Assisted by her daughters, the Misses Florence and Edna, Mrs. McConnell served delicious ices and cakes, and at a late hour the guests departed, declaring her an ideal hostess.

First Presbyterian church. It was the regular monthly meeting of the socie
ty of the First Presbyterian church.
It was the regular monthly meeting of the society and the members took up tho study of the second chapter of
their text book, "China's New Day." Mrs. Helen Twiss was in charge of the program for the afternoon and Mrs. Miller lead the devotional exercises. A dainty luncheon was served after the program and a delightful social hour was passed. There were only twelve members at yesterday's meeting. The attendance was not as large as usual on account of the extreme heat and the absence of a number of the members who are spending the summer out of the city. PICTORIAl. REVIEW PATTERNS. At the annual reunion of tho Daughters of Liberty held last Thursday at the Lake Front the prizes in the contests were won by Mrs. Cora Keyser, Mrs. Lisle Burge, Mrs. Eureka Tuley and Mrs. Grace Lukman, instead of Mrs. Charles Luthman as was reported yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Zoll of Detroit street will leave tomorrow for a week's visit at South Haven and Saugatuck, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Graves are entertaining Mr. D. H. ladies of the party who took cookies, waiters and other good things, was especially good with- fresh strawberry Mel ha cream and coffee- served by Mrs. Houlihan. The ladies spent the evening at Palmer park where they enjoyed the open air band concert after which the ladies returned to the home of Mrs. Houlihan, who lives In; a very cozy, apartment. One very pleasant feature of the- afternoon," was ;the favors given each lady which were very handsome pieces of hand painted china, being Mrs. , Houlihan's own handwork. At a late hour the ladles returned homo delighted with the days outing. The various committees of the East Chicago Woman's club are working hard on the program for the different sections they represent for the coming season. It is expected that the clubs calendar with completed program will ,be ready shortly for the printer. The departments are the- home economics, the civics, the literary and the music sections and each has its own committee at work on tho program. The literary section was completed some time ago. It is. understood that the music section la preparing for an unusually elaborate program. Miss Mary A. Stone is at the head of this.
