Cards were a feature of the afternoon's .entertainment, pedro being played progressively at three tables. The hostess won the first honors and prizes were also won by Mrs. Henrietta. Huber, Mrs. Richard Smith and Mrs. Hill. Mrs. Charles Luthman was awaided the

In two weeks the club members will be entertained byMrs. Charles Luthman at her home in Sibley street. AXNl'AL KEINION. 1 Members of Golden Rule Council No. 1 D. of L. and Triumph Council No. 11 D. of L. spent a very pleasant day yesterday picnicking at the Lake Front. It was their anual reunion and the committee, in charge had a number of Interesting , games and contests arranged for the entertainment of the
members. Among the prise winners In the various races were Mrs. Tate, Mrs. Eureka Tuley, Mrs. Lizzie Burge and Mrs. Charles Luthman. An elaborate picnic dinner was served at noon. The affair was very largely attended. Monday evening the members of Tiumph Council will hold their regular meeting in the I. O. O. F. Hall and on Tuesday evening will occur the regular semi-monthly meeting of Golden Rule Council. ANSUAL riC.MC. The annual picnic of the Northside Ladies" Club was held at Douglas Park. Members of their families were the only invited guests. In all there were forty-six present. The picnic party left for the park at ten o'clock and spent the day every pleasantly with contests and games. An elaborate picnic dinner was served at noon and late in the afternoon another luncheon was served. Arrangements were made during the day for the nest
regular monthly meeting of the club which will be held In September at the home of Mrs. Bothwell in Johnson street. Mrs. Bothwell will be hostess

church very delightfull yesterday afternoon In the church hall in Clinton street. There was a large attendance
of the membership at the meeting a number of whom brought their needle work. A supper was served at fourthirty o'clock. A silver collection was taken during the afternoon and a nice sum was realized which, will be used by the society for the benent of the church. The next meeting c-f the society will occur in two weeks on the afternoon of August 21st.
MEET IX CHI RCII rARLOItS. The weekly meeting of the Martha Society, was held yesterday afternoon in the parlors of the First Christian church in Calumet avenue. It was a busines meeting and several matters of Interest were discusseod. Following the business session refreshments
were served and a most enjoyable so-, clal hour was passed. Arrangements ' were made for the next meeting to j bo held Thursday afternoon. August 14 j in the church parlors. He has spent thirteen years in preparation for the priesthood, having been at Dayton, Ohio, most of the time and the four last years abroad. Father Koch is a member of the Marist community at Dayton, Ohio. He will spend a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Koch and family, at 155 Highland street. Rev, Koch lived with his parents in Crown Point till thirteen years ago, when he began his study for the ministry. His father, a retired farmer, lived In Crown Point until a year ago, when he moved his family to Hammond.
