A PRETTY 1VKDDIG. The marriage of Miss Viola Strickler and Lloyd Kose was solemnized at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the .First Methodist parsonage at Indiana Harbor. Ind. The Rev. Johnson pronounced the ceremony In the presence , of the Immediate relatives and a few of the closest friends of the bride and groom. The ring ceremony -was used. The bride wore a gown of blue silk beautifully trimmed with lace and a white plummed hat. Following the ceremony the wedding dinner was esrved at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Dunfee, 344 Truman Avenue. A prettily appointed dinner was served In flv courses. Pink rose buds and

Mrs. Lewis Belshaw was a Chicago Vistor yesterday. Tax payers of Lowell want to know why the park seats are scattered all over town instead f being in the public park square for the benefit of the general public as intended they should. Their asence therefrom has worked a hardship to many people who have sought the park for rest, shade, fresh air and comfort. They should be returned, so say the tax payers. The third annual Union Sunday school picnic will be held at Oakland Park all day Thursday from 9 o'clock a. m. to 8 o'clock p. m. An interesting program has been arranged. The Bunday schools met at the public square and march to the park. Tlie forenoon will be taken up by addresses by the Revs. Simpson, Weddell and Bright. At noon there will be a basket dinner. Some of the attractions for the afternoon will be a ball game between boyteams, boys 100 yard dash, girls 50 yard dash, married women's nail driving contest, potato race, ball game between married and single men, spiking the ring on horseback, pie eating con test by boys, tug of war by boys, hitch ing and unhlchlng contest by young ladles, three legged race, wheelbarrow race, the goose hangs high, baloon ascension. Msbanrlment at S o'clock, after which there will be a band con cert on Commercial avenue. People from all over Lake county, regardless of church" affiliations are cordially invit ed to .attend this big" celebration. No entrance fee charged. Saturday the extra work train and freight train No. 72 came together at Paisley near Cedar Lake on the main track. Three freight cars in front of one o the engines was all that prevented the two engines rom smashing Into each other. Section Foreman Lucas of this place jumped from the work train to save himself. He landed on the rails of the track and bruised himself considerably. Andrew Fancher, a section man, also of this place was knocked off the car and considerably hurt. His wrist was badly sprained and his back Injured. The Jar of the fall also affected him. Three cars were demolished but the engines escaped with but little Injury. Ed Walker made a business trip to Manon Monday. Mrs. Tom Ready and daughter Elizabeth and Miss May Walseh of Chicago spent Sunday at the home of Ed Tates. Miss Madge Lynch who has been visiting her grandparents and other relatives and friends here returned to her home in the city Monday. - Mrs. C. U. Winchester (nee Cordle Meelk and two children of Chicago who visited at the home of Mrs. Rant Pratt for several days returned home Monday. Tom Hayden and wife were Chicago vistors Monday. Mrs. Lew Chapman was a Chicago vis itor Monday. Sam Petrie and family who spent two or three weeks camping on the Kankake river near Albert Chapman's place have returned home. They had a delightful trip. Dr. Sam Bell and family of Hammond spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Caroline Sanger. H. H. Ragon and wife were guests at the home of Frank Tilton Sunday. William Buckley, Jr.. was taken to St. Margarets hospital Saturday where he was operated on for appendicitis. His case is pretty serious. Miss Bertha Slont of Chesterton was a guest of Miss Carrie Bruce Saturday and Sunday. Henry Clements, wife and two daughters returned Sunday from a visit at St. John. Grant Bellamy who has been working on the section here has gone to Hammond to work on the block system for the Monon railway company. Mrs. Judson Hayden and daughter Madeline of Indianapolis arrived in Lowell Saturday evening to visit rela tives. John Splndler and family of Valparaiso spent Sunday in Lowell. Incidentally the whole of Beacon street -was shaken by the tidings which the children of the street spread like wild fire, to the effect that the youngsters were miss ing. All the mothers In the two blocks which ' constitute Beacon street were out searching for the youngsters when some one heard sounds under thS Hale porch and on investigating found the two young men, divested of their gar ments and enjoying a dry swim.' Mrs. Lundquist is quite ill having been sick for several days with an ailment which puzzles the physicians who are attending her. Her temperature ranged around 104 for quite a while yesterday and her family are quite anxious concerning her, lest she be coming down with severe illness. Mr. John Whitehouse of Muncle, Ind., is visiting his sister Mrs. Ben Reese of Elm street. He will divide his time while in this region between the homes of Mrs. Reese and another sister, Mrs. Edgar Lewis of East Chicago. Mrs. Will Reese of Mlddletown, Ohio, is visiting his sister, Mrs. William Hu. lsh of Grapevine stree. The guests arrived Sunday and will remain for a couple of weeks. Dr. Sharpe has been prospecting with a view to finding a place which meets his liking In which to open an office and practice his profession.
