way to nominate. He Is In favor of adopting every method that will In his opinion give the people the most drect
voice in the selection of a ticket. "I feel," said he, "that the people are the ones to be served by the successful candidates, and it should be up to them to make their own selections." Mr. Kennedy also stated that he was in favor of a platform and thought that the Citizens' party should outline what they intend to do in case they are successful. "Personally." he said, "if I should be fortunate enough to he elect
ed mayor of East Chicago I would present a message to the council, not only at the time of my inauguration, but at the beginning of each year, outlining in the communication what I would like
to see accomplished for the betterment of the city during the following year."
Mr. Kennedy also stated that the
first thing that he would do after as
suming the reins of government would
be to have an inventory taken of all the physical property owned by th-s
city. He would also Insist, he said, on
detailed reports being presented to the council once every month by the head
of every department in the city. These are only a few of the policies Mr. Kennedy would put Into effect, lf nominated and elected. Mr. Kennedy claims the honor of having originated the Citizens' movement in East Chicago, soon after his arrival here in 1901.
