The martial troubles of Mike Pavao of Oklahoma, have borne hard upon the usually genial spirits of Chief McCormack the man who rules the police

department of the Twin Citlea. Mike has a wife named Mary. Not long ago she and a friend, also Mike, but surnamed Savarovtch, fell in love and decided to run away. It would not have been so bad had they not taken with them in their flight, $376 and a watoh and chain belonging to the husband of the woman. Alike, the husband, traced the pair to Steuben ville. Ohio, and swore out a warrant for their arrest, charging grand larceny and adultery. Chief McCormack went to arrest the culprits which he did in a neat and workman-like manner. Up to this time everything went well. But at this point a good kind citicen of Steubenville. took it upon himself to direct Chief McCormack home by a quick route and proceeded to ball things up for the visitor. He told him to take his prisoners to Marlon. O., where he would arrive at about 4 p. m. and there change to a train which came through Marion fifteen minutes later, on its way to Hammond, Ind. This would have Aeen all right had

not have been quite so bad as It was, had the first train scheduled to arrive on Its way west, arrived on time. In Marion the chief learned the sad tidings that the westbound train was not due until midnight and that it would be at least thre hours late. Here is where Chief McCormack got even for some of the impositions that have been heaped upon him as chief of police. He told his troubles to a Marion policeman. The Marion officer while not extending the keys of the

I i;ity to the visiting arm of the law, did ! however extend the keys of the city Jail, so Chief McCormack put up his I prisoners within the basttle and waived responsibility therefor, until time to shake the dust of the Ohio town from his feet. He arrived safe and sound, albeit belated, with the erring Mike and Mary in his custody, but

feels some tired this morning.

We also called at the Chipman tile factory and found that they were busy trying to keep up with the orders for tile. If anyone wishes to address me in person I xwill cheerfully answer all letters, as I cannot speak too highly of the Pinkham remedies.' Miss Jessie Marsh, Adrian, Texas.
