Gravel Road Petition. State of Indiana, Lake County, ss: In the Commissioners Court of Lake County. Indiana. July Term. 1918. To the Honorable Board of Commissioners, Lake County, Indiana: The undersigned resident freeholders and voters of North Township in said County of Lake and State of Indiana, pray your Honorable Board to cause to be constructed and improved by grading, draining and paving with crushed stone, gravel or slag, in the manner that is commonly known as macadamising, and pursuant to an Act entitled an "Act Concerning Highways." passed by the General Assembly of the Slate of Indiana and approved March 25th. 1907. the following described public highway in North Township, Lake County. Indiana, towlt: Tha following described line Is the center line of said highway commencing at a point at the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section nine (9). Township thirty-six (36). north of Range nine (9).. west of the Second P. M. and running east to the east line of said North Township, thus connecting the east line of said North Township with an improved free gravel road heretofore established and constructed by the Board of Commissioners of Lake County. Indiana, pursuant to an Act of the Qeneral Assembly approved March 8th, 1905. and all amendments thereto approved March 23rd. and February 27th, 1907. Said road or street asked to be improved is about one mile and a half In length and they pray that such improvements by grading and macadam izing as aforesaid be made sixteen feet ( wide; and your petitioners further show to your Honorable Board that the said j highway so proposed to be Improved J will be less than three miles in length. There Is no incorporated town or city In said township of North, Lake County, Indiana, with a population of thirty thousand or more Inhabitants. All of which Is respectfully submitted. R. nine 9) W. of second P. M. in North Township, Lake County, Indiana, thence extending due south along the east line of said Henry Hopp's twenty-one tract of land, and extending south to where said line Intersects with a Public Highway known as the Schrelber road, said Schrelber road being the south line of section nine (9), said proposed Highway is located in the southwest quarter (8. W.) of said section nine (9), said proposed Highway will be one-half mile in length. Your Petitioners would represent to this Honorable Board that the said road be Macadamized to the width of Twenty-four (24) feet with crushed stone together with a suitable dressing to be decided by this Honorable Board with at least four feet berm n each side of said pavement, and
that you at the asme ,'tlrne construct and cause to be constructed all necessary culverts, drains, side drains so as to make said stone or paved road a complete and improved Highway. And that your Petitioners further shows that the construction of said road and the pavement thereof will be of Public Utility and the costs thereof will be less than its benefits. Both of which terminal points of the road herein petitioned for were constructed under and pursuant to the Acts of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana.
