START ON NEW STREET BUILDING
Preliminary work has been started by the Gary Land company on the im
provement of Buchanan street, which will be Gary's residential thorough
fare lie luxe. Fillmore, Pierce and Van
Buren streets, now the most Imposing residential streets of the city, will have to give way to the new highway, which, will house some of the finest
homes in Norhern Indiana. To Retain Natural Charm,
The new street will be Improved from Fourth to Eighth avenues. It will cut through the rolling sand dunes

no change in the layout of the land.

It is expected that prices will be the same as Pierce street $500 for each thirty feet of frontage. No lots will be sold now. and neither will the company accept any applications for lots until all improvements are completed. The price of the lots include the cost of the Improvements, thereby eliminating assessments. This will make the property as ch-sap as any to be had in the city. Only residence of a stipulated price can be erected.

The Steel City Home Building: Company, Gary building, Gary, which baa built scores of new homes to be sold on the easy payment plans at Gary and Garton, will at once erect a number of new dwellings. This company which Is identified with the air line interests and which secures lta money In eastern and English markets, has already assumed the lead as the leading home building company In the Gary district. Breeta Many Fine Residences, No company In the district is erecting such a high class of dwellings. In Gary the company has been operating in Fillmore and George streets set aside for bungalows only, and In Pierce street. In the latter thoroughfare It has ercted several handsome residences ranging in cost from 14,500 to 112,000. The most imposing home built so far Is that erected for Frederick H. Wod, president of the Steel City concern. It Is set In a 75-foot terraced lot in Pierce street, the rolling contour of the sand dunes being left In its natural state. Nearby is the imposing residence of Secretary Woodward of the Gary and Interurban railway company also
built by the same people. Those two homes are regarded as among the show

Episcopal church in Adams street.
