R. nine (9) W. of second P. M. In North Township, Lake County, Indiana, thence extending due south along the east line of said Henry Hopp's twenty-one tract of land, and extending south to where said line Intersects with a Public Highway known as the Schreiber road. said Schreiber road being the south line of section nrne (9), said proposed Hlgrhway is located in the southwest quarter (S. W.U) of said section nine (9). said proposed Highway will be one-half mile in length. Your Petitioners would represent to this Honorable Board that the said road be Macadamized to the width of Twenty-four (94) feet with crushed stone together with a suitable dress- J lng to be decided by this Honorable I Board with at least four feet berm ) on each side of said pavement, and that you at the asms time construct I and cause to be constructed all neces- t sary culverts, drains, side drains so as to make said stone or paved road a complete and Improved Hlghwar. M., within said North Township, in the County and State aforesaid. Lake County, Indiana, and that we are entitled to vote at the general election held In said Township, County and State. Said petitioners respectfully pray your Honorable Board of Commissioners to establish and cause to be constructed under and pursuant to the provisions of an "Act Concerning Highways," and providing in said act for the construction of free gravel, stone or other macadamized roads, and for the payment of the cost therefore and their malntalnance, which act was aproved March 8th, 1905, and in force April 15th, 1905, and all subsequent amendments thereto, a free stone road along the following route, towit: Beginning at the intersection of the west line of Section One (1), Township Thlrty-slx (36) North, Range Ten (10) West. 2nd P. M.. with the center line of Kenwood Avenue as laid out in Kenwood Addition to the City o Hammond; running thence easterly on the center line of said Kenwood Avenue to Hohman street; thence east on the center line of Kenwood Avenue as laid out on the north line of the south half of the south half of said Section One (1) to the center of Calumet Avenue, and being about one mile in length. Your petitioners respectfully petition that said highway to be improved by grading, draining and paving the same with stone, and that the same be paved to a width of Twenty-seven (27) feet, with a four foot berm on each side of said improvement, and that all necessary drains, side-drains, bridges and culverts be so constructed as to make said stone road a complete improved highway. And ssid petitioners further show that North Township, Lake County, Indiana, has no incorporated town or Cities within its corporate boundaries which has a greater population than 80,000 inhabitants.
Said petitioners further show that said road will be of public utility to drain, pave and grade the same, as herein set out, in the width and manner herln set out, and that the costs thereof will be less than the benefits thereto. Said petitioners further show that the said road is less than three miles in length, and that said highway is about one mile in length and that the same connects a heretofore constructed, laid out and established free stone road in North Township, Lake County, Indiana, as herein set forth, and that it is now laid out, established to a width of Sixty feet and used by the public generally. And your petitioners further pray for the improvement of said highway In all things In accordance with an Act of the General Assembly of the Stat of Indiana, entitled VAn Act Concerning Highways" approved ach 8th, 1905, and all acts amendatory thereof, and suppelmental thereto and that said highway to be constructed by order of the Board of Commissioners of Lake County, Indiana, without an election being held therefor. To the Honorable Board of Commissioners, Lake County, Indiana: The undersigned resident freeholders and voters of North Township In said County of Lake and State of Indiana, pray your Honorable Board to cause to be constructed and Improved by grading, draining and paving with crushed stone, gravel or slag, In the manner that is commonly known as macadamizing, and pursuant to an Act entitled an "Act Concerning Highways," passed by the General Assembly' of the State of Indiana and approved March 25th, 1907, the following described public highway In North Township, Lake County, Indiana, towlt: The following described line is the center line of said highway commencing at a point at the northwest corner of the southwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section nine (9), Township thirty-six (86), north of Range nine (9), west of the Second P. M. and running east to the east line of said North Township, thus connecting the east line of said North Township with an improved free gravel road heretofore established and constructed by the Board of Commissioners of Lake County, Indiana, pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly approved March 8th, 1906, and all amendments thereto approved March 28rd, and February 37th,' 1907. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Sllroka of Front Street on Wednesday. Miss Louise Matern of Oliver stree is visiting at Grant's farm near Miller's Station. Mrs. Coventry, formerly Miss Josle Roberts who taught school here for several years is visiting. The stitches were removed yesterday and he expects to soon be able to sit up for a short time. Andy Donko of Center street met with an accident while at work in the Standard Oil Company which resulted in his being badly burned about the face. Donko was taken to the office of Dr. W. E. Putnam where he had the burns dressed, after which he was was removed to the Presbyterian hospital in Chlcaga. Donko is married but his wife still resides in Europe. Mike Tomko was arrested on the charge of allowing a dog to run unmuzzled. He was ararigned before City Judge John S. Hall and was, fined 83.00 and costs. Miss Lilljan Raiding has taken a position as stenographer for - Atorneys Fetterhoff and Green. The Ladles Aid Society of the M. H. church will give an ice cream social in the church parlors on next Monday night. Mrs. George Hosklns is entertaining her mother, Mrs. Dewey of Grant Park, 111.
