A MISSIONAKV MEKTIXG. The members of the Womans Honw Missionary Society of the First Methodist church had their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. M. M. Bruce. 91 Carroll street. The afternoon's program was In charge of Mrs. Frank O. Fraley and Mrs. Etla Dake. Mrs. Fraley conducted the Enijrma study and Mrs. Drake read an Interesting article on "Why and How I Became a Morman." Mrs. Louis Freeman gave a reading entitled, "Wayside Testimony." The musical program was given by Mrs. Julius Dunstng. The program opened with the devotional exercises lead by Mrs. Congdon. After the program the hostess, Mrs. Bruce and Mrs. Louis Freeman served their guests with a dainty two course luncheon and the remainder of the afternoon was spent in a very delightful social way. There was Quite a large attendance of the membership. Announcement was made of the August meeting which will be held the first Tues

day afternoon In the month.

entertained a few friends informally at their home in East State street last evening. Their guests were the members of the N. N. Embroidery Club who met for their weekly thlmhle party.

The early part of the evening was spent with needle work. Music was also an enjoyable feature of the evening. At ten o'clock the hostesses served their guests with dainty refreshments. The next meeting of the club will occur at the home of Miss Gertrude Herbst In South Hohman street Tuesday evening, July 8th. Miss Herbst wll be hostess at a thimble party.

He has all sorts of brothers and couiins in town and it appears that he numbers among his friends every countryman in Hammond. The Gordons are aboard the Burlington & Qulncy limited and by night will be speeding through Nebraska. Miss Ruth Gordon, the daughter, and her father father are native born Lake county people, while Mrs. Gordon has lived here for nearly sixteen years. Gordon goes to engage In the real estate business in Portland, Ore., and will enter into a firm there in the fall. In the meantime the Gordons will visit Mrs. J. L. Boyle, Mrs. Gordon's sister, living In 1637 37th avenue, Denver, Colo. They will do the state at their leisure, visiting Canon City, the region of the Rio Grande, Pike's Peak, the Grand Canon and the other points off Interest. For fifteen years Gordon was at the head of a department at the Simplex rn Hammond, having charge of all carpenter work, car building and repairing. He waa born near Crown Point and received his education in that city. His mother is living and for the present is with her daughter. Mrs. 'William Palmer, 472 Wilcox avenue.
